Karl Zimmermann
Is there any way we can vary the schedule a bit? Would there be any issues moving groups A and B between groups E and F? NOTE: Race groupings will change based on received entries. • Group A: Factory Five Challenge, CMC, CMC2 • Group B: American Iron, American Iron Extreme • Group C: Honda Challenge (H1-H5) • Group D: Performance Touring (A,B), Super Touring (R1, R2, 1, 2), SU • Group E: 944Spec, Spec Focus, Spec-E30 • Group F: Spec Miata • Group G: Time Trials (TTC, TTD, TTE, TTF) • Group H: German Touring Series (1-5, U) • Group I: Time Trials (TTU, TTR, TTS, TTA, TTB) • Group J Performance Touring (C, D, E, F), Legends
National Staff Greg G. Posted May 24, 2009 National Staff Share Posted May 24, 2009 Karl, The schedule will not be made until there is a better idea of how many drivers there are in each class, how many want to Supersize, and from what class to what class. In fact, the class groupings in each run group are also open to changes if and where necessary.
sn8byte
In fact, the class groupings in each run group are also open to changes if and where necessary. I assume that Showroom Spec Miata (SSM) will be running with the SM group. yes?
National Staff Greg G. Posted May 26, 2009 National Staff Share Posted May 26, 2009 I honestly do not know. I'm not sure that anyone knows at this time. I wouldn't assume anything at this point. There is certainly no reason that I can see that they must be in the same group, just like PTE doesn't need to be in the same group as PTD. rushing23
Can you atleast confirm that the format for the race groups will be the same as last year (two practices on Thurs, qual and qual race each of next two days, then championship race Sunday)? No, sorry. I'm confident that the amount of track time will be the same, but I could foresee the possibility that the format might be changed for the benefit of the competitors. rushing23
I don't care so much about the day by day breakdown... 3 races? Qual with Qual races? Can you confirm any part of this atleast? Thanks.
Members Ryan F.
We can confirm there will be 2 qualifying races and one Championship race. However, the exact distribution is under construction.
slammed_93_hatch
What can we do to make sure that USTCC does not race with Honda Challenge? Please let me know.
bpanther
What can we do to make sure that USTCC does not race with Honda Challenge? Please let me know. This was the only group that it fit into that met the needs and requests of the UST series.

slammed_93_hatch
Come on Jimmy, just Supersize to PTD. If i was super-sizing i'd go to PT.. Me and several other drivers in Group that always run with USTCC, have constant issues with USTCC cars. Nothing seems to solve the problem. Well one thing would solve it, but it isn't the correct thing to do.
National Staff Greg G. Posted June 17, 2009 National Staff Share Posted June 17, 2009 Got it. I thought it was possibly a Supersize issue. I definitely know what you mean. I used to run USTCC.
RickyboobooJohnson
I signed up PTC, just Supersized to GTS, but also would like to run TT...is there a supersize option for this combination?
National Staff Greg G. Posted June 25, 2009 National Staff Share Posted June 25, 2009 You cannot run in TT unless you have completed 5 TT regional events. If you have, then there is a Supersize option.

kbrew8991
prelim schedule out: http://nasachampionships.com/news/070309/Sched_Nationals_2009Ver1.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sunday looks a little tough for someone that was running TT and ST/PT car - last TT session and their Champ Race back-to-back. Not sure what changes are possible but it would be great if someone had some time to add fuel and get to grid on time for their race (or TT session) was there a reason TT was extended to Sunday? In previous years it was wrapped up on Saturday not complaining at all, just curious
Bart Carter
I see a 15 minute course check between the two. That said, I hope I am not depending on the last TT of the Nationals for my best time.
kbrew8991
typically the last sessions were the fastest at Mid-O since the morning warmups didn't count - track temp warm but not hot & greasy, air cooling off so better horsepower, etc. And typically out-of-towners go faster each day... so... Also those course checks are the first things to get axed when things inevitably run behind. If it was a firm "we're not going to cut this" 15 min it makes it slightly better, but I'd rather see a race between the two sessions than a 15 min break you know? Most people could have the car fueled, get some water, relax for a second, and still get to grid on-time or ahead of schedule that way without rushing. National Staff Greg G. Posted July 6, 2009 National Staff Share Posted July 6, 2009 The only session that didn't count last year was the first of the event. The plan is to count the am sessions for TT on all except the first day.
kbrew8991
The only session that didn't count last year was the first of the event. The plan is to count the am sessions for TT on all except the first day. 8 competition sessions vs 6 like '06-'08 had is a VERY good change. If I were just doing TT I would kill to have those across Thur/Fri/Sat however. Me being a selfish super-size person right now I would instead kill to not have my last chance to better my TT time and the "all the marbles PT race" back to back. Right now groups G & J (equivalent TT and PT classes) and D & I (equivalent SU/ST/PT and TT classes) are back to back or effectively back to back all day on Sunday. With that last session being historically the one in which a vast majority bettered their times it isn't one I would willingly skip.
National Staff Greg G. Posted July 7, 2009 National Staff Share Posted July 7, 2009 I noticed that also, and then was thinking that maybe we could switch the TT groups' last sessions on Sunday. I'm not really sure that I would go out in a TT Session that ends at 2pm when my Championship PT race starts at 3pm, though.
kbrew8991
that hour would be enough to swap from tires, top off the tank, slam a bottle of water, and get to grid on time at least though
National Staff Greg G. Posted July 8, 2009 National Staff Share Posted July 8, 2009 True, but with my POS falling apart every weekend this year, I doubt that I will put it on the track with only a few minutes to fix anything that breaks Assuming that the run groups stay the same, the Sunday TT schedule will be changed.
