cullen winter
I got my letter from CDOC. I'm a little disappointed in that the contingency isn't available unless you have already registered ($10 fee) which we couldn't, while waiting for our letters, consequently no payouts for our events so far this year (not that I had already spent that 10th place money !) Of course something is better than nothing
Big Dog
Since when does CDOC charge a $10 registration fee? I don't recall that last year. If they are, I, for one, am offended by that and will remove my CDOC stickers and not participate or purchase from them. Let me know. Big Dog
OH. I have not received one yet. I don't understand CDOC's reasoning for charging to register for contingency money. Why would anyone that does not expect to be up front register? The whole idea is offensive to me. I will NOT sign up and pay $10 in order to do so. 944-Spec#94
OH. I have not received one yet. I don't understand CDOC's reasoning for charging to register for contingency money. ...Big Dog Simple... the old program cost them too much money. So they changed it to make it harder to sign up therefore making it a cheaper program for them. Form a racer's view it kind of sucks now. However from a business owners view this new program will cost them less money than the old one. The entire goal of the progroam was to make money in the long term. I guess there were not. What is really too bad is that it always harder to cut a program down rather than expand. Had they started with this program last year we would all be happy we have "something". Now we feel like we are losing vs gaining.
JerryW
I had no problem registering last year and providing exposure with the CDOC stickers despite realising that I would rarely have the opportunity to cash in on the contengency. But I'm blessed if I am going to pay to advertize for them.
ianacole
It cost last year as well - $10.
JerryW
Don't remember that
Weston
It didn't cost us anything last year. I like stickers as much as the next guy, but I'm not going to pay to put someone else's sticker on my car unless I'm guaranteed something in return. I have better uses for that space. ianacole
Maybe the $10 fee was something they added later in the season.
944-Spec#94
It cost last year as well - $10. Not for me nor any other 944 driver I know.
ianacole
Maybe it was to cover the cost of the expedited shipping. I signed up late in the year, along with another driver (non-944) and we were both charged $10.
pmcrespo
I was signed up last year and happily paid some $$ for the contingency package inclusive of decals. At the end of the day, I more than made it back in contingency winning credits. And they were fantastic to work with all year. In fact, one very cold and storming day I found myself without a hat at VIR. Before I knew it, I had a complimentary CDOC hat on my head after one of the guys recognized me as a racer under their program. Just my opinion, but I rather have a contingency program for $10 to cover some of their admiistration and up-front expenses, than not having one at all. It is your choice after all to join or not. Many businesses in the racing industry are strugling to survive and walk the balance between cost/investments and profitability/cash flow. Most of us are doing what we can to maintain a sustainable balance.
