secretsquirell
I'm considering doing NASA GTS in addition to Porsche Club. Of course I need to find a place near Albany NY to do the dyno run and preferably a shop who has built NASA cages to add an additional door bar to my safety devices cage. Anyone know of a shop that they can recommend.
ianacole
You can find an approved dyno by inputting your zip code in the appropriate field here: http://www.dynojet.com/dyno_centers/list_automotive.aspx. Looks like the nearest one is about an hour away. Welcome aboard - please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
secretsquirell
Thanks. Overall I think that GTS is a much fairer playing field than PCA is. I'm sure there are politics, anytime you get 2 people together there are politics, but some of the PCA rules and application are pretty inconsistent. For example, I've run my car for 4 years as a Stock (G before the reclassification) D car. At WGI Myself and 6 others got bumped to D Prepared because we had bumpsteer kits. Now, EVERY car I know of personaly (I relocated back to the NE last year) where I used to run has bumpsteer kits on it. What is the difference between lowering the rack with spacers, or increasing the length of the connector to the tie rod?? Effectively 0, and practically, the rack remains more protected. I had no problem with being re-classed, but they only did D and E class cars, and EVERY stock car IMO should have been scrutineered. With GTS this kind of thing is irrelavent, hence my feeling that its fairer.
JSG1901
I completely agree (and welcome to NASA). I left PCA several years ago because they were sticklers for things like which parts of the carpet you could remove but didn't check stock cars for special pistons or cams. As you've said, GTS doesn't have that. The rules are simple to understand and simple to enforce. If your experience is anything like mine, you'll love it here. Members Michael G.
Welcome aboard. I am positive, you will find the environment here friendly and fair. We are planning to have Dyno at the each event with the exception of the next one at NJMP in 2 weeks. Hope to meet you soon, Michael Gershanok - GTS NE Dir. pmcrespo
Welcome! GTS rocks. The competition and drivers are fantastik. Great group of racers across the board, not only GTS. Plus you get to race with all sorts of brands, types, and diferently configured cars. Younger crowd too! Much more fun... Dave Deerson did my last cage upgrades and he is phenomenal. NASA Miata and Fiero racer himself just a few exits south of NYC area.
Pinnacle Racing
Welcome to GTS. I am new to NASA GTS as well. Having completed my first race at Pocono North, and coming from PCA Club Racing, I was concerned about how clean people drive on track as compared to PCA. Much to my surprise, I actually saw, based on my 1st race, that Nasa, in fact, is as clean a group to race with as PCA. I'm looking forward to our next race at Lightning next weekend. Good Luck, Demetri Michael, I hope you got your diff bolt issue resolved so we can have some fun in GTS4 together next week.
Members Michael G.
I did, hope will work better this time around. And we will have at least one more P-car in 4 - fast 911 of Marco Pires. Michael.
