Great weekend and first thanks to all the NASA workers for putting on an awesome show as always.

We also got to meet out famous/infamous? leader Ian Cole this weekend. Thanks for coming all the way out and also opening your ears to our pesky whining

I'll post more comments/videos soon. Need to catch up on some work I missed over the weekend.

Sat: The rainstorms made it interesting, but it dried out nicely for the Thunder race. An AWESOME restart by Greg and Some crazy wrecks, including one of a red Mustang as seen in the "Joyce thread" in the MidAtlantic section.

Sun: Qualified nicely. Alfredo motored by on the start, but I was able to get around coming out of T10. Some great battling going on behind me as Jeff Curtis and Alfredo duked it out.

I owe you all the thanks! What a great weekend it was - you all put on a heck of a show on Saturday! Huge thanks go to Doug and Chris for making me feel so welcome.

I took over 450 pictures, you can find them here: http://www.wasabiraceteam.com/gallery/2009Events/Summit%20Point%20Jun19%20Hyperfest/index.html

I am by no means a professional photographer, so if you see something you'd like a high-res of, send me a PM with your email address.

Thanks again!

Pics look great Ian! Thanks for taking them.

Here is my first video. Sat Race. Talk about a race that keeps you on your toes! The top 6-7 GTS guys were nose to tail for quite some time. Me and Greg were perfectly positioned to see the yellow flag drop and had a nice restart. His was better caus I was in the wrong gear

The race finished pretty crazy with me edging Greg out by 0.01

Trying to get my Sunday video up, but my laptop keeps crashing from the large file

WOW! crazy ending, Eric. Good to meet you this past weekend. After speaking with many GTS folks I think I will go for the GTS3 next year (yellow 1972 911)...you all really put on a good show!

WOW! thanks for uploading the video Eric... that was one hell of a race and 'on your toes' is RIGHT! I think our experience was key to getting back in the hunt on that restart as the other guys were mostly asleep at the wheel when the double yellow fell minus Josh? (black Porsche) damn Cobras!!! haha... you did a great job of working back up to me and it was crazy to see how i picked the wrong path out of T10 on that Cobra when he gave me a head-fake to the left and then moved right all the sudden and then back to left again.. i was stuck and you found the hole-shot, good job!

thanks to all the workers as you certainly had your hands full in this one...

GTS-3 is pretty much where it's at in my book... lots of competetive cars w/ some great drivers behind the wheel. I had a blast for a weekend to come out and play and look forward to it again sometime in the future.

Autobahn Weekend highlights.

The rain was fun

It's pretty clear that I need to spend some more time on car development as my driving skills are clearly under utilized as the video will demonstrate

Here's the write up I sent to GRM:

They Came, They Raced, They Threw One Heck of a Party

Mid-Atlantic GTS Racers made their way to Summit Point, WV in June for one of the Region’s highlight events: Hyperfest. The annual event includes a vendor midway, car show, roll-over contest, bouncy-ball slalom races, off-road adventures, live music, drifting, and of course … RACING!! While off and on thunderstorms during the Saturday festival dampened the track, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the attendees or the spirit and competitiveness of the racers. Michael Yaskin, who earlier in the month competed in the Northeast Region’s opening event at Pocono, experienced a devastating off during qualifying which resulted in the front end of his BMW being torn off. Despite this set back, his crew worked feverishly to get the car prepared for the main race. As a result, Michael took the green flag and finished in 7th place in class – a great team effort!

Close racing was the story in GTS3, as less than ¾ of a second separated the top 3 spots, with Eric Wong edging out Greg Shaffer by .011 seconds, followed closely by Joshua Smith in 3rd place. In GTS5 the elder Soykher, Gennady, edged out his son, Igor, who finished 2nd, and Edward DePew in 3rd. Derek Schwarz not only took the GTS4 victory over Max Fischer, but claimed the overall GTS victory also. Greg Shaffer, robbed of victory earlier, exacted his revenge by taking top honors in GTS2 in his alternate car, besting Scott Bresnahan in 2nd and Jeff Emanuelson in 3rd.

Sunday dawned on clear skies and more fantastic racing. Greg Schaffer repeated his victory in GTS2 (while placing 4th in GTS3), with Scott Bresnahan repeating his 2nd place finish of the previous day, and Hunter Allen rounding out the top 3. GTS3 saw Eric Wong take 1st place again, this time bettering Alfredo Galossi and Jeff Curtis, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sunday’s GTS4 race mirrored Saturday’s, with Derek Schwarz finishing ahead of Max Fischer. Rounding out the group, Igor Soyhker took GTS5 top honors on Sunday.

A great party coupled with great racing … a better weekend could not be had!
