Trade virgin RA-1s for R-888, Sacramento CA

Looks like another year is going to get away from us and, with a degree of reluctance, I need to secure some tires that are legal next year. I've got a virgin set of RA-1s, 275-17s. Purchased and shaved last year from AIM. I'd like to trade them for a virgin set of R-888s. Local only, I will be at Thunderhill in August, if someone wants to consumate the trade there. They are currently mounted.

I'll consider other offers, but I'm just trying to make sure that we get back to the track with a legal set of tires. I suppose I can run the RA-1s next year in AIX, but I'd rather spend time in AI.

Bob, I would hold-up a while, the RA1's might be legal 2010 tire. Rumors abound about them coming back and 888's being the out-going tire that will be used for rain, etc until they are discontinued as a spec tire.

I also have a new shaved set.

Toyo Tires found the molds and will be making them again. SCCA spec Miata have already went back to them for '10.........and dropped the 888's, so a lot of people think they are coming home!

A lot about this on the cmc site!

Ahh.. rules instability. Gotta love it.

Thanks for passing on the rumors. Sounds like I need to hold off on buying my set-up tires. I'll keep using this set of old RA-1s for now.

Thanks for the information, I hope someone can confirm it soon. I know some folks like the RA-1 and would like a virgin set for the Nationals. I need to be able to race next year with next year's legal tire. I'm hoping to make two folks happy, me and them.

What would make me happiest is to keep the set I have and legally race on them next year.

SFR SCCA newsletter is reporting that the RA-1 is going back into production in 2010, at least for Spec Miata. Let's hope they do the same for NASA and our class.
