I found two hotels that are offering fairly good rates that are nearby to Miller. They're not name brand places, but both appear to be good... you locals can chime in there

I made a resevation here for $57/night, 10 mi from the track:

http://oquirrhinn.com/default.htm

this one didn't have a rate listed but when I emailed them it was in the $50-$60 range iirc and its 6 mi from the track:

hope that helps some people save some money - the next lowest rates I found were $110+ per night and 1/3rd the cost of renting an RV

I called the kirkhotel above, he initially said $66/night when I gave him the dates: Sept 7-12th. Then he asked what was the occasion, and I told him I was there "for a race at Miller Motorosports Park." Then he decided to raise the rates to $150/night while he was on the phone with me!!! His reasoning for raising it to $150 right then and there was that he didn't know that there was an event at MMP, and he thinks that "there will be more of a demand for rooms."

So, if anyone is looking to stay there, expect to pay MORE than the other hotels in Tooele.

wow, they emailed me a much lower rate than that, what a jerk.

the Oquirrh is where I ended up staying anyway. Might give them a shot instead?

Booked my room at Oquirrh.. $61 per night with tax. I said NOTHING about a race

Heh. I called the Kirk before reading the rest of the thread. Wow, did I make a mistake. The fellow I talked to basically told me that he thought there would be some big industrial jobs in town over that weekend and that he could not rent a room to a racer to interrupt that other business. Clearly, I'll pass the information along to the Miller folks.

Any hotel by the salt lake international airport is a good place. You'll only be about 20 minutes from the track. There are LOTS of rooms in that area as it has the highest density of rooms in the Salt Lake/Tooele county area.

There are hotels from motel 6 on up to the Radissons, Hiltons, suites etc... and everything in between.

The ride from the SLC airport keeps getting shorter and shorter. Last guy I talked to said it was 30 mins. Now it's down to 20 mins. It's a 29 mile drive from the Radisson to the MMP gate. I know we're racers, but come on!

Maybe we could make this part of the competition for the weekend. Fastest time from SLC airport to MMP gate gains two starting positions

Special class for Motorhomes of course.

FWIW,

When towing from my house to MMP it takes me 35 minutes. No towing 30 minutes.

I live 12-15 minutes from the airport and the airport hotels are in a cluster 3-5 minutes beyond the airport. I would drive I-80 the whole way out from my house so it's the same route that the rest of you will be taking if you are staying at these hotels.

It's freeway speed the whole way out there!

I'm so pissed I see double.

I sent a reservation request online to the Oquirrh motor inn on 8/24, and was told they only had smoking rooms which I didn't care. I thought that was the end of the business, unless I said "no, thank you".

Today I was getting my paperwork ready to leave next Monday, and realized I don't have a confirmation number for the motel, so I called to verify and pay for my reservation, and they couldn't find me. They called me back and said they were booked and that I never told them I wanted a smoking room, so they believed I didn't want the room at all and they didn't save me a room.

So, today I don't have any place to stay, and they offered me a Best Western room at the discounted price of $100 which I can't afford.

Now looking for any hotel in the SLC airport area.

Beto, the motel 6 by the airport is 35-40 per night wed-sunday that weekend it's a bit north of the airport, so I'd guess 30 minutes or so away.

It's motel #192

Or there is a motel 6 in woods cross which is a little further, but maybe easier access. probably the same rate

you made me panic for a second - I called and they still had my reso, whew

since I'm there all week the 40min/day I'm saving is worth the $10 a night rate to keep me closer to sane

Beto, the Super8 near the airport may still have rooms. I booked earlier this week for about $70/night including taxes.

Super 8 is in a good location. right next to the freeway ramps.

If you don't mind sharing a room, there's a guy from the Rocky Mountain region looking for someone to share a room with.
