ST#97 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 "legal for AI and AS"....? Why are they worried about breaking in the LS3 driveline if they have to run a carb'd 305 in AS?.....did I miss a rule change in AS....? Quote
Red Tornado Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Nice. Will watch this with much interest. I was hoping someone would run a new camaro. I wonder given the 6 cylinder power if that could actually be a hot setup also. Quote
bpanther Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Sounds like it's Brian Groth's car.... Anybody ever buy his old AI car? Quote
robbodleimages Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 "legal for AI and AS"....? Why are they worried about breaking in the LS3 driveline if they have to run a carb'd 305 in AS?.....did I miss a rule change in AS....? Maybe. Last year SCCA made some Touring 2 class cars with limited prep AS legal. They have to carry a lot of weight and are also underpowered, but they are legal. The 2010 Camaro might, therefore, be AS legal with the factory power train thru the T2 rule allowance. That said, those rules are written to keep the standard prep AS cars at a significant advantage to any T2 car. Quote
Dean#4AI Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Sounds like it's Brian Groth's car.... Anybody ever buy his old AI car? I talked to him a few days ago and he's still got it. He ran the new Camaro completely stock at MAM a couple of weeks ago for a shakedown. He said he ran out of brakes a few times but he was still on the stock pads. Ran strong the whole day but he said he could really feel the extra weight. Quote
swhiteh3 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Correct. For those interested, he's advertising the current car for sale, and also providing a link to his new car build, as linked above. Quote
dave engel Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hello everyone, We've updated the web site and the build. http://www.carriagehousecustoms.com/CHCA/2010-SS/Entries/2009/7/17_Entry_1.html We have maintained Brian's mustangs for the last three years and have decided to build(sponsor) a new camaro for American Iron with the help from Pfadt racing and Hyper-Performance Motorsports Inc. Feel free to ask questions or comments. Dave 507-824-2119 [email protected] Quote
Grizlbits Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I think they need a smaller trunk opening, you still may be able to get a bag of groceries in. Looks like fun though! Quote
brian-groth Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Sounds like it's Brian Groth's car.... Anybody ever buy his old AI car? Yes, the car is still for sale. The market seems to be pretty weak so I will just wait it out. If I still have the car when we head to the track with the Camaro, it might be nice to have this car along to test and compare with. The project is moving along well. The car is down to a bare shell. We got all the sealer and stuff out and Carriage House (Dave and Steve) are building the cage. We hope to have everything mocked up and done inside the car soon, so Dave can paint the car. We have parts of the car in Utah, Wisc, Florida, ect. It is like Christmas every day in anticipation of parts showing up. A special thanks to fellow AI racer Dave Diehl at http://www.hyperperformancemotorsports.com/ for the graphics. Brian Quote
brian-groth Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 The car has seen the light of the day for the first time today. It in not ready to hit the track yet, but it is pretty darn close. We have been busting our butts to get the car ready to go to nationals. I will be displayed at my sponsors displays (Carriagehouse Customs and Pfadt racing) I hope to fly out Thursday, stop by and say hi. Brian Quote
Big-Foot Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Website is updated with the latest pics... http://www.CarriageHouseCustoms.com The car is on it's way to the Nationals as I type this.. Stop by the PFADT booth and check it out!!! Quote
Holster Maker Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Good job. That's a REAL beauty I must say! Quote
swhiteh3 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Beautiful car Brian!!! Have fun getting it dialed in at Nationals... Quote
JKnight Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Does AI have a new window banner, or is this something that you came up with. I like it a lot, but I thought the window banner was standardized as white with a certain font and size. Jason Quote
Forrest Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 HAHA! I found what I was looking for without asking Anyways, For basic TT (time Trails I'm assuming thats what that is...) would you need a roll cage with the camaro, I read through the rules and could only find stuff about convertibles Anyways, I have a 2010 Camaro as well, I'm actaully looknig at the entire Pfadt line, and I really want to race this car. I think it would be exciting as all get out P.S. If you have any control over it, there is an email waiting from me at your website lol Quote

Jason We are hoping NASA will see the window banner when the car is on display at nationals and give us the ok to keep it. If we have to change it once we race, we will adhere to the rules. (we love that banner as well) Brian Quote
