AMorgan Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Ok, haven't been on here in forever, but came up with a few questions while going over the rule book this morning. First, am I allowed to run aftermarket connecting rods in a 1998 Honda Prelude? I am guessing not from what I'm seeing, but I have a set of Pauter rods that I can't seem to sell for a fair price, so I figured I would see if I couldn't just use them. The second question pertains to sleeving a block, is this allowed? FRM sleeves and aftermarket OEM style pistons don't seem to go together so well, but aftermarket pistons are legal; I see no block sleeving reference. Finally, it looks like JDM motors are now allowed (so long as you don't exceed the posted CR). Would aftermarket OEM style JDM pistons then be legal? Any help would be great. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go, i'm just happy to be moving in this direction again over trying to sell the old Prelude. Quote
BrianZ Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Everything in the block must be oem stock to the engine code stamped on the block. no rods, no sleaving, and no swapping parts around (unless the engine code uses the same part, i.e. in a JDM GSR B18c motor you can swap EVERYTHING to make it a JDM ITR motor because they are the same engine code) Quote
wm577 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Don’t mess with the block on a H22. Those things are darn near indestructible in OEM form and can handle up to 9K RPM without trouble! Just work on the head for a strong H2 build: stiff valve springs, a good 5-angle valve job, port match 1" in, and mill the deck if it's USDM to get 10.5:1 CR. Quote
