Rear Hatch Fram Trim

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am getting ready to reseal my rear hatch to the frame. My car does not have the top "Trim Frame" (part #2 on the diagram)

Anybody have one they would part with (cheap)?

As a follow up to my request:

Is this trim missing typically missing from your 944 Spec? Mine had some black racers tape over the top of the hatch glass. When it started to peel, I was going to refresh the tape and I found that the hatch glass had separated from the frame. I was not suprised, since this is a known issue with the rear hatch.

Anyway, I am going to reseal the glass to the frame using a good urethane (3M) adhesive and I wanted to put the trim piece back in place.

However, if everyone throws that piece away, I will rethink my plans.

Please let me know.

I'll check tonight. I don't think mine has one so I didn't know it was missing.

Thanks. I was beginning to wonder if everyone leaves this trim piece off.

Sorry for the delay. I have mine.

Dale,

You pretty much have to have that piece in place to hold the leading edge of the glass. The glass is supposed to be glued deep inside of that. If you look closely, you'll see small dimples near the leading edge of the glasss. These started life inside the front frame piece. It might be easier for you to just buy another used hatch.

I made a mistake!

I was looking for a plastic trim piece similar the the left and right side. I now realize that I actually have the trim piece after all! I just have a separated glass.

Thanks.
