kevinlpl Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Does anyone have links to videos of the Perimeter course at Miller? I could only find some weak motorcycle footage or entire track footage. Also any written tips or instructions available on line? Thanks Kevin Nichols road runner racing - Spec E30

bpanther Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Try this one. Should be similar speeds to your E30. http://rm944.com/events/2008-06-13_15%20Miller/DDirks%2076/DavidDirks_Saturday.wmv

kevinlpl Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Thank you for sharing. Boy... 944s are tough little cars!!! Did you get hit from behind as well?
dmdirks Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Thank you for sharing. Boy... 944s are tough little cars!!! Did you get hit from behind as well? Yep. The back of my car is still bent. Not one of my finer moments, but it sure makes good Comp School material!

We are getting our new C6Z racer ready to try to defend our Championship in ST1. I had it out for it's maiden race last weekend with MPRA (Miller Park Race Association) on the 'Outer Loop' configuration of the Miller track. That is the exact configuration that we will be running at Nationals. Below is some video of the first 4 laps of the race. Some background on the cars you see. The yellow Corvette belongs to George Smith, a local racer and contender for ST1 this year. He ran a 1:59.xx in this race, so that gives you an idea where ST1 cars will need to be. The two 996 Porsche's are above average for 996 cars in terms of prep. The one is in RSR trim and both are faster than production 997 Cup cars. The faster of the two qualified at a 1:55.xx. The EVO is driven by a local Pro and is obviously fast and aggressive. I make a decision to get away from him in the beginning of the race to work on getting used to the car. It was it's first race, I didn't want to tangle it up already. He has a wild spin next to me at the end of the front straight just before the end of the video. I put down a 2:04.xx in the race, clearly not Nationals contending yet. The Z right now is completely stock except for cage and Pfadt suspension. I even have the stock exhaust manifolds, cats and mufflers on the car. This car does not have so much as a tune or aftermarket air intake. The brakes eventually failed in dramatic fashion and took me out of the race. I felt them going so I was able to keep the car on the tarmac and bring it in safely. You can hear them on in the video. -Aaron

Members Dave K. Posted August 5, 2009 Members Posted August 5, 2009 He has a wild spin next to me at the end of the front straight just before the end of the video. WOW

andy38 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Do you guys know which start-finish line we'll be using? Looks like there are two on that monster front straight.
Jon lee Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Should be the first one. The second line is for the west course configuration.
bpanther Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Anybody see the quick writeup in Grassroots Motorsports? It's a start.
kevinlpl Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 Yes I read Patrick Longs write up on the Perimeter course. Another helpful piece thanks.
ST#97 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Ok, finally something realistic with the ST1 vette vid. Looks a little boring actually and not nearly as fast as I thought for 500hp monsters.
kbrew8991 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 too bad he didn't have data overlayed on the vid - you'd see the actual speeds they're carrying and I doubt you could call it boring then
echtm3 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Here's one I did from july 2008, e36 M3 stock. http://video.yahoo.com/watch/3001350/8583452
MRZ Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 looks can be decieving, this was recorded only my second time on track, w de cars. the line is pretty good. it is alot of turns to remember, did not do my homework before I went there, so everything was green. Ok, finally something realistic with the ST1 vette vid. Looks a little boring actually and not nearly as fast as I thought for 500hp monsters.
