National Staff Greg G. Posted August 7, 2009 National Staff Posted August 7, 2009 Technical Bulletin (8-6-09): All vehicles: Aerodynamics Section Revision: 9) Add or modify side skirts +2 (side skirts must be vertical only, and cannot connect to any other aero component) Quote
Tom A Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Do you consider a fender flare an aero component? I do, and I don't think I have ever seen a side skirt that wasn't tied in to the fender flares. Quote

Theres one: and another: and another: and another: and another: and another: and there are a zillion more that google showed me. Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted August 11, 2009 Author National Staff Posted August 11, 2009 Shawn, the first two that you showed would not be legal because they are not "vertical only". Flared fenders and rolled fenders are on the no-points mod list (to allow wider tires), but if they are more than just a "flared fender" and have some type of "added" aero component, then they are probably in violation of this anyway: If a modification is not specifically allowed by the rules, it is prohibited. A permitted item cannot be modified to perform either a prohibited function, or the function of an item that would otherwise be assessed points under the modification rules. Vehicle legality is the sole responsibility of the driver. Quote

We may need to look into the wording because the stock M3 skirts have some of that aero shape already in them. Quote
