Boxer12 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 They do not sell 93 octane in the great state of Utah Surely they sell Sunoco 100 at the track?
cbuzz Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Yes I guess it would be good to know what is available. Any word?
Jon lee Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 We are at a higher elevation so most do not need any fuels beyond 91. However this is what is for sale at the pumps. Typically very reasonable prices. On Site fuel at Miller Motorsports Park: Sunoco 110 leaded Sunoco 260 GT 104 unleaded oxygenated Sunoco 260 GTX 98 unleaded Texaco 91 unleaded Texaco 85 unleaded Diesel fuel
944-Spec#94 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Last year june prices were very nice. only 1 penny more per gallon for 91 at track than at the nearest gas station in town. Great deal if you ask me.

Jon lee Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 As far as I know it is just gas. Sunday's price on the 91 was $2.85 Price at the pumps in Salt lake are around $2.65
944-Spec#94 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 The price for 91 at my local costco (which is about as cheap as they get) here in Phoenix is 2.71. Considering Salt Lake is a 30 min drive if you are staying at the track using the track pumps make sense.
Weston Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Having a pump at the track is pretty nice, but they ran out of 91 octane at our event last year, so it would be wise to have a backup plan too.

It is promised that this will not happen this year. From the big guy, "I have made arrangements with our fuel supplier to fill the tanks multiple times during the 4 days."

I ask because ive called MMP several times and no one can say for sure which gases are sold at the pumps. I asked about the unleaded fuels. A few didnt know. The ones that said they knew said they only have 98 and 100, no 104.
Members Dave K. Posted August 11, 2009 Members Posted August 11, 2009 Jon doesn't work there, just there too often... we'll be out again on the 22nd, and I'll double check what fuels are availabe through the pumps.

bpanther Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Hi, do you work at the track? No, he doens't work at the track, but as Dave said he might as well. Everybody should find Jon during the event and thank him for the work he's done for this event. He'll be running a Spec Miata. He's my inside man and gets me all the info on important stuff. He helps navigate the liquor laws of Utah. He's hook us up big time with beer (real stuff, not 3.2% coors) for Friday night. He even tracked down the band that will be playing on Friday night.
Jon lee Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Like the Daves both said I don't work there, but I think I've spent enough time out there to at least start collecting some health insurance I haven't done much other than to make sure all my competitors are good and drunk Friday night and have a good time. I'm really looking forward to this event being held here at our home! Big thanks to all the NASA officials that are making it a reality, it's a lot of hard work and it's greatly appreciated! it looks like there are more of us locals in the last few weeks that have started regularly checking this forum. If any of you have any other questions that only a local might know, we can likely help. Where to eat, other sites to see, things to do away from the race track, navigating your way around the park, etc..... See you all in about a month, -Jon

Christ!!! Why don't they just put "first born" on the 260GT. Are the hamburgers going to be $20 plus fries and a drink? I thought $6.50/gal was bad at the tracks here. Is there a limit on container size/quantity to enter the track? If not, I am buying 5 more fuel jugs and I am bringing all the 93 I can from Texas and plenty of additives to make my on 100 juice.....assuming I Have my car back together in time...
