Coming from Las Vegas different websites give me different routes, not much difference on milage nor time, but using two-lane highways, secondary roads instead of using the Interstate 15.

Just want to know if anybody had any experience with the Utah highways conditions, like US 50, US 6 and SR 36.

Just like I hate Hwy 58 in California from Barstow to Mojave, single lane, always full of trucks, and 55 speed limit.

Is there a speed limit in Utah for trucks towing trailers?

Practice, practice, practice...sorry, old joke.

From Las Vegas the best route is I-15 all the way through Salt Lake City to I-80 west. Just so know from Cedar City to Provo is pretty much an exanse of nothing. A couple small villages, but mostly open road and gas station or two. If you need to stop between Cedar City and Provo you need to divert to Richfield.

I will be coming from the south, but not though Las Vegas and catch I-15 somewhere along the way.

I-15 to I-80 is definitely the best way to go. No question about it.

There are no speed limits for vehicles towing trailers in Utah so you can go 70-75 all the way from Las Vegas to just south of Provo until the speed limit drops back to 65

How about from MI

Well going through las vegas is a bit of detour.

Hell if I went throuigh Vegas I might not make it at all

From Michigan I would just hit I-80 and take it all the way to Miller. From down south you can take I-70 to US-6 or I-15, Highway 6 is a twisty, I don't mind it but some go the longer way.

what about from Fort Worth (Dallas)?

I'm headed through Dallas from Houston. Basically go north until you hit Wichita, then hang a left though Denver on to SLC

Towing through the Rockies on I-70 is one experience I hope to never have. Us Denverites like to take I-25 North into Wyoming, then I-80 West into Salt Lake... That way is bit more tow friendly, with some mountains right outside of Salt Lake City, but they're not too bad if you're awake.

there isn't much option getting into Denver it looks like, but the route Google puts you on is out of Denver on I-25N over to Cheyenne WO, then over to SLC on I-80W

how bad is I-70 getting into Denver?

If you don't do it at rush hour, you'll be fine. I would assume from there you'll want to cut north on I-25 to I-80. You can take the I-270 branch to avoid going through downtown.

You could always take E470 around denver, but that will be something crazy like $15 in tolls with a trailer (right dirks??).

I-70 from Denver to Utah is pretty. We did it once with the 26' and the Spec Miata, slow but doable. They've been doing westbound roadwork that has had 6-8 mile backups through the Eisenhower tunnel. We will be going I-80.

I made that mistake once too... you end up stopping every few miles to pay like $6 a pop when towing instead of the usual $2. At first, I was thinking "ok, there probably isn't another toll booth for a while", then it turned into "well, I'm already out $20, so I might as well just go the whole way now", and it ends with "I can't believe I just blew $30 and didn't really save any time!".

Run that route in Google Earth and you will probably change your mind. especially with a gas 3/4 ton and that 26' trailer.

Ditto... I dont know about the section between santa fe and blanding, but avoid the Rt 6/191 road from green river utah to Price, and stay on 70 to I-15

If you weren't towing 6/191 is a beautiful drive, but it is one to be avoided with a trailer if possible.

All that said, I think straight up 35 to 70, then denver, then up to 80 for the trip into SLC would probably be the fastest/easiest...

try the site Stellenmarkt here:

http://www.usroadconditions.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I usually get all my informations from them.

About the speed limit every time I visited the state, most of the time for jobs I usually try to drive with the overall traffic flow on the interstate. This is usually around 85 mph even though the actual speed limit is 75.

Also highway 6/191 is the deadliest stretch of highway in america. Coal trucks, + other big trucks, motorcycles, and a lot of other cars in a hurry frequently make a lot of dumb decisions on a 2 lane road.

Last time I was on it my family and I were in the motorhome coming back from a river trip in Moab. We were at 65 mph and twice had to slow down to almost 20 mph to allow semis to get back into the right lanes so there wasn't a head on collision. they would have killed us all in either accident had it happened. I avoid that road when I can.

Ill be coming in from Tyler, TX. I am actually traveling on the 191, however, I will be in a Passat, not truck/trailer.

Ive been advised to watch the Indian Territory. Heard those fellas like to drink/drive.

Actually a lot of the 15 from Cedar city to Provo is 80 MPH. No trailer restrictions. You should see the tripple big rigs doing 80. Its almost scary.
