codeblack Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I going to purchase a track car for HPDEs and would like your thoughts, good or bad, on the radical SR3 Quote
2thAche Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 What are you driving now, how much experience do you have? Quote
Bruce L. Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I don't know the answer to this question but I'd check with your local region to ensure they allow low cars to mix with sedans on track. Just saw some of them running in a race yesterday - awesome cars! cheers, bruce Quote
codeblack Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 I'm currently driving a 2006 C6Z06, I've been driving track events for two years. I'll check with PDA to find out if they will let a radical mix with sedans. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 probably too fast to be really fun - seems like you'd be constantly catching someone and be waiting for a point-by in a competition setting though Quote
sscguy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 probably too fast to be really fun - seems like you'd be constantly catching someone and be waiting for a point-by Yeah, this sounds like it'd be the case. Although, I'd think with a C6 Z06 you'd already be experiencing that to some some degree. Quote
Sidney Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 These things are very difficult to see out of a racecar. I would not want to run one of these unless there was a specific run group. Keep your Z06! Sidney Franklin Certified Instructor CMC #64 Quote
Feffman Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I run a Radical SR3 after years of street cars, including several Lotus Esprit and a Cadillac CTS-V, at HPDE and I'll likely never go back to a street car for HPDE. Feff Quote
TSOL Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I've never driven one personally but spoken to quite a few owners, all of which love them. They are very reliable, safe and very quick. Only thing I'd keep in mind is that they are pretty advanced (meaning you're dealing with mid/rear configuration, an Aero package, open cockpit, etc) so if you're looking just to get experience, it's not the best car to learn in. We just wrote about a very reasonably priced SR3 here if you decide to buy one: http://twoseatsorless.com/2009/09/rad-deal-2002-…al-sr3-racecar/ Quote
tur8o Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I am an instructor and was fortunate enough to be a passenger in one last weekend for 1 session at Summit Point / Shenandoah Circuit with a good driver. I was just looking for a thrill ride on Sunday afternoon. Initial impressions: Not alot of torque. Z06 driver would have to lift to allow you a pass in HPDE unless you really set up a pass and rocked a corner before a straight. It goes wherever you want it, want to go deep and go around an off camber tight turn around the inside off-line? no problem. brakes? no problem Very impressive car, it will beat you to death though as a passenger. Not great visibility but maybe my seat was lower, driver had an extra pad in his. Quote
sleder Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Please buy it...no buy two you may want to have a competition so you will need someone else to play with on track... I spent a couple of days with Radical East they are wonderful people who know how to set up the cars. The cars are incredible, Point and shoot, take the paddles! Quote
