drivinhardz06 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 does changing out the C5 leaf spring spring adjustment bolts with either later C6 style OEM bolts (or C5 aftermarket) fall into this: 4) Non-OEM or modified coil springs, leaf springs/spacers/brackets, or torsion bars +2 Quote
kbrew8991 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 does it just affect ride height or does it affect the spring rate (effective or otherwise) Quote
drivinhardz06 Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 just the ride height although, never really thought about spring rate. I suppose it could slightly (dunno if the arc of the spring ends are linear in their range of motion) Quote
kbrew8991 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 seems like it just about walks like free mod #13, quacks like free mod #13... Quote
Varkwso Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 seems like it just about walks like free mod #13, quacks like free mod #13... And who says Ken is difficult. I agree with his assessment - but any dissenters will soon chime in.. Not sure why you want to do this though...the stock bolts put the car about as low (and high) as the car can function with stock suspension. Check out a Phoenix (or David Farmer) prepped car when you get the chance. Quote

National Staff Greg G. Posted September 2, 2009 National Staff Posted September 2, 2009 Well, maybe that something else falls under this rule: A permitted item cannot be modified to perform either a prohibited function, or the function of an item that would otherwise be assessed points under the modification rules. I think the intent is to make sure there is adjustment for finetuning the corner balance of the car. Quote
jason Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I filled his rear quarter full of concrete. He's going to need a lot of adjustment. Quote
Grant Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 With my FRC, there was plenty of adjustment left in the rears for corner-weghing after the fronts were bottomed out (I left the rear a bit high for some rake). After I removed a good amount of weight from the front of the car I ended up installing front lowering bolts though. Quote
