ianacole
Where did the GTI finish? Apparently MyLaps has redesigned their website ... a little less intuitive, now ... but the overall results can be found here: http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1312336&perclass=1 I finished 9th (8th following a DQ for logistic reasons), but not last and ahead of all the 1 and 2 cars, which is better than I did last year
CARVAL Motorsports
Conratulations to the '09 Champions! Was glad to see a good, solid field (albeit minus all of us over on this side of the country ). Get some of them videos posted ASAP.
CARVAL Motorsports
Hey Ian, How did it go with rules complicity, dyno calls, enforcement, etc. Did National oversee? Glad to see GTS well represented
ianacole
Hey Ian, How did it go with rules complicity, dyno calls, enforcement, etc. Did National oversee? Glad to see GTS well represented It went very well. I think we dyno'd 1/3 of the field, ran all cars across the scales, and everyone was in compliance, both with minimum weight and with dyno numbers. Tom Clayton (Race Director) and I oversaw all the compliance testing.

CARVAL Motorsports
Video is good enough to give a feel for the track. Looks better than what many expected. Ian, we had Tom Clayton as our Championship director in 06.
mater
The track is a whole lot of fun to drive ,with a good mix of fast corners and slower ones. Here's part 2 of same race " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; =" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"CARVAL Motorsports"]Video is good enough to give a feel for the track. JSG1901
What happened to turn-out in GTS-2? In my case, a broken flywheel but I'm pretty glad I didn't drag my car 25 hour each way to race two other guys. I don't know if it's the economy or the location (probably both) but ALL the GTS classes were down with the exception of GTS5: GTS1 4 (vs 10 last year) GTS2 2 (vs 10) GTS3 11 (vs 14) GTS4 7 (vs 9) GTS5 6 (vs 4) Overall, 30 GTS cars at Miller in 2009 vs 47 at Mid-Ohio in 2008. 944-Spec#94
Part of it is the economy. I heard overall Nationals was 20% down over last year. However I heard that all regional attendace was also down about 20%. So the seems to point too the economy. GTS is probalby hit worse by the location that other classes. I know in GTS1 3 of 4 cars were 944 spec cars running GTS to supersize. A few more GTS cars from Az were just supersizing since Az does not really run GTS classing. These cars all mapped in PT or ST and ran GTS cause they could. The one good thing about Nationals in the west was alot of new guys attended the event. For the 34 944 spec cars 100% were their first time at Nationals. At the driver's meeting on Wedensday evening the asked who was competing in their first Nationals. About 80-90% raised their hands. So it was clear that moving west they were able to drawin a number or racers who were never able to make the Ohio events. Even so it will be a challenge to get the east cost guys to mix with the west coast guys. The distances are far. The best we can hope for is probalby a few from each cost willing to make haul becuase they know what Nationals is like. I had great time for 2009 and plan on making 2010. For me being Arizona 2011 at Mid-ohio is a long haul. Not impossible, but still quite long. I will have to see what I maybe able to do in 2011.
