robbodleimages Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Ford is announcing their consumer version of the next generation Grand AM car. The 2010 Mustang Boss 302R. It is an off road only fully caged 400hp track car. Its priced at $79k. I think of it as the replacement for the FR500S Mustang Challenge car. It can be upgrade to Grand Am specs which includes a different transmission. So it looks like the Boss 302R gets the 6060 trans that the S car got and the Grand AM version the 6 speed racing transmission of the C car. At 400hp the car should dyno out at the wheels right at the 9.5 to 1 p-hp ratio of our class. The engine is a 4v configuration and would then seem to be a fit for SN95 cars currently running 4.6L 4v engine packages. This engine package should also be showing up in street cars and trucks by 2011. Over the counter AI car. Quote

This Mustang was developed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Mustang Boss 302's iconic 1970 Trans-Am championship win with Parnelli Jones behind the wheel. The Boss 302R is a factory-built road racing Mustang powered by a 5.0-liter 4-valve motor mated to a six-speed transmission producing an estimated 400 horsepower. Other goodies include a roll cage, race dampers/springs, brakes, race seats and safety harnesses. Details are a bit scarce but we do know the MSRP will be an estimated $79,000 with production being limited to just 50 units. Also, build and delivery dates are scheduled for sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2010. An optional 2010 Grand-Am Homologation Spec Package for $129,000 will also be available to compete in the KONI Challenge. For more details check out the release sent out to dealers nationwide. pbr96 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 What BBS wheels are these? Forged Magnesium RE Monobloc , Very light but with a heavy price. The 18x12's we had weighted 13 lbs. but when you bent one, you replace the wheel and being as light as they were guys were bending them just using the curbs. I think they now make an aluminum version as well. Quote
tacovini Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 The good folks at MMP sent me the flyers they have on both the Miller Challenge car and FR500S Mustang Challenge cars available. Again...looking for a large document or pdf. posting solution here. They still have cars available and the asking prices are $35k and $59.9k respectively. -=- Todd Quote
