Nelson-Ledges on Aug 9th will be my first HPDE experience. Just wondering if there any others in the Columbus area that will be participating.

I have a 2001 Z06 vette. I ve installed: an Autopower 4-pt. roll bar, racing seat, Simpson 5-pt. harness, fire extinguisher, and a Borla "Stinger" cat-back.

If you installed a five point harness for the driver, and not for the passenger, yopu won't be able to get on track in HPDE 1. Speaking as an instructor, I wouldn't consider getting in a car where I wasn't strapped in as well as the driver. Even if the second 5 point isn't required by the rules, you will have a difficult time finding an instructor to get in the ar with you. Just put yourself in the instuctors shoes. Would you get in a car with 400HP, with a driver you didn't know, that was strapped in much better than you, with the objective of drive very fast, at an increased level of risk, would you get in the car? There's not an instuctor out there that hasn't seen another instructor injured in a student's car.

Actually. I wouldn't get in at all (humor)! Race Instructors and Flight Instructors hold a special place in my heart.

Thanks for the advice! I'll re-install the std. seat and belt until I'm signed off to "solo". It'll be a more comfortable ride up there anyway.

Will you be instructing there?

I'm not sure what I'll be doing. I am racing this weekend at Gingerman and then 2 weeks later at VIR and the following weekend is Nelson Ledges. I've already decided not to take my racecar to NL, but I will be there in some function or another. If an instructor is needed, I'll instruct, or you may see me out on a corner with flags in my hand.

See you at the track.

Mark
