Packfill Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 1) I am thinking of painting my rollbar some color other than black. Someone told me it should remain black, so not to interfere with vision in your rear view mirror..... T or F. 2) What is the preferred oil. I assume synthetic, but is there a preferred make, viscosity, etc? 3) Same questions as #2.... Brake pads..... I am about due. Quote
PeanutinCA Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 1) My "red" cage doesn't bother me? Bars are still in the same location, just because you paint them? I'm red cage on yellow interior? 2) ? 3) Hawk Blue for good stopping. People say others are cheaper to run? Point of a 944 is not use the brakes. I still have 98% pad left after several weekends! P.Dilly. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I have had great success with hawk blues. They are not hard on rotors if you don't use them on the street. Cold braking is what wears the rotors. I just replaced my front rotors after 2+ years of use. Quote
mfoley Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I have a white cage and a white interior. The white cage isn't a problem but the white rear under the hatch is terrible. At certain angles I see the tail lights and the hatch latch in the glass (say that five times really fast !). I am going to repaint the back flat black. I just switched to Hawk Blues and am very happy with them. Quote
Steven Rea Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Consider Hawk Blacks - go to http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/hawkflyer.pdf for a 35% off sale!!! The blacks are way more than enough stopping power for these cars and at 35% off you can't go wrong. Enjoy! Steve Quote
Packfill Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 and the best choice for oil?....... Quote
uberklasse Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I use castrol 20w-50, but I was thinking about changing over to Mobil One. My only concern is that I have heard switching to synthetic on high mile engines from regular lends itself to leaks. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 We switched from natural based to Liqui-Moly synthetic on the black and white 924S. No big leaks yet. I have absolutely no oil temp or pressure problems with the Liqui-Moly product. I run their gear oil and CV grease too. Quote
PeanutinCA Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Hook us ALL up with a deal TC!!!! Think of your brothers. P.Dilly. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Tell me what you need and I'll call my rep/sponsor. I think I might be able to work something. We just got a big ol' Liqui-Moly decal in the San Diego Union-Tribune. That was good for a few million people seeing it. Quote
PeanutinCA Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 How about another sponsor deal on the oils baby!! I'll run their decals for free synthetic for the year? How much do they supply? I was heading the R.White advice and changing regular oil after every race weekend to save them old rodly bearings. How often are you changing the synthetic? Actually, if they supplied it to ALL of us maybe we could all run their products? P.Dilly. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I changed my Liqui-Moly once last year. Quote
