Not to side track too much, but did NASA tech say the uncovered (not in sealed box) battery is ok? The rule as I know requires sealed box if in driver's compartment. If there has been a change it will make things much simpler on a build i am currently involved with.

As far as I know, NASA still requires a covered battery. SCCA, VARA, HSR and other sanctioning bodies that this car is legal to run with do not require the cover for a dry cell battery.

 

I have a cover for it. It is ugly. The interior photos were taken last February when the car was brand new, so the "ugly box" as I call it, was not installed yet.
