Is the schedule gonna be up soon? I'd like to supersize PT and TT, but wanna make sure the schedule will make that feasible. And the early reg deadline is coming up quick.

I'm pretty sure you can Supersize up until Sept 1st at the 299 rate, I did last year.

Correct, the supersize option stays at $299.

But to answer your question, mid June the preliminary schedule will be posted. Expect the majority of it to be very similar to last year.

Ahh, ok. I'll go and see if i have my schedule from last year.

I am giving the small bore TT (15 cars) and Spec Miata (16 cars) a few more days to get cars entered. I may end up absorbing them into another group. Probably run Spec Miata with PTxx and put all the TT cars into one group if they don't get more cars entered.

Please look and see if there are some of the SMs running PT as well... I might be the only one that is registered so far.

I know there is at least one TX guy that is trying to do SSM and PTE

I'd rather not have WreckPinata in my run group honestly...

when is this going to be posted ?

I don't have the exact times but you can expect the following to be the main race days:

Saturday

CMC/FFR

E30

944Spec

SpecMiata

Honda Challenge

Sunday

AI/AIX/STR

ST/SU

PT

GTS

Legends

Is there a way to make the STR and the ST race groups not on the same day for those guys planning to race both.

Posted

I'll check and see. The only logical place to put STR would be in with FFR and CMC.

Currently for Sunday, STR is the first race of the day and ST is the last race of the day. So you have about 4-5 hours between races.

something to consider.... STR and ST back to back... or even same day may kill double dippers.

Yep. It's all been considered. No matter what you do, somebody may have to race more than once per day if they want to supersize. AI/AIX into ST/PT. SM into PT. 944Spec and E30 into GTS and/or PT. HC into PT. FFR/CMC into PT. ST into STR. GTS to PT. Not to mention all the people that supersize into TT. I'd be open to suggestions of the "perfect" schedule for 2011.

That's part of the reason why we discount supersize so heavily and don't charge a full entry fee for each class added.

We could always go back to the format where ALL race groups were on Sunday and then everybody would be even....

Or do it like the other guys and have classes racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Start qualifying races on Tuesday .

heh.. i know... just pointing it out cause it effects me..

how about normal qualifying, one qual race, one final race.

im worried about wear and tear over 6 full races.. plus TT.

Nah.... you'll be fine (just busy). That's part of Nationals. You have to be consistent over several races to place well.

There was a young lady last year that ran in GTS, PT and I believe TT and came away with a GTS podium finish. It can be done.

If you are really worried then don't super size.

I am concerned about 944 spec and 944 spec only. Last year was my first nationals and debated how best to use my track time. I consider supersizing to GTS, but chose not to.

It was for me the right call. I instead chose to run Wedensday as test day. I use that day to dail in the chassis. Good thing was I could use 5 session that day with zero racing to make adjustments. Since I was one of 34 cars in class I could not afford to be slow in either of the two qualifing sessions or have poor finish in each of the qualfying races. My sessions that counted starte mid-day Thursday.

For my trying to GTS at the same time was to much effort and too much risk. In the end I was happy with doing just 944 spec and end up leading 1/2 the championship race. I did not win, but finished only 2.5 second out of the lead.

So for 2010 my plan is the same. Set-up on wednesday and get some solid finishes Thursday and Friday and bring all the marbles on Saturday.

You need to choose what works for you given your goals.

So we are doing the same schedule as last year, wouldn't it be fair if you at least switched Sat & Sunday races ie those who races on Sunday last year should get to race on Saturday this year. Being the last race on Sunday two years in a row totally sucks.

BTW I would like to see ST2 & STR2 on different days, as for the other groups which groups had the most super sizes?

and to James and Ryan last year we ran STR2 and ST2 Qualifing races 20 minutes apart in the 90 + degree weather. Than add impound in there.

That's enough time to sober up from drinking that bottle of champagne, but getting the champagne out of your driving suit is another story.

One thing to consider also is impound. Some classes (like spec class) may require a more complex impound inspection effort. This can take time. Last year I finished 4th in 944 spec and despite not being part of the teardown my car was impounded for 4-5 hours post race. The first 3 cars were looked over very closely and that takes time. They impound 4th as well just incase the needed to DQ one of the top cars. Then I would have been moved up to 3rd and they would have inspected my car in detail. The first 3 cars were all fine so my car was not looked at other than weight, but I still needed to hang around.

Classes like ST1, ST2, SU and GTS don't have complex rules. Just power and weight. So their post race tech can go much faster. No driving infraction evaluatation can still take time (ie passes under yellow, etc), but they can still clear each car from tech and deal with the rest later on.

That I am sure plays into when each race group is scheduled.

Joe is on it and that's an important factor.

If you look at the classes on Saturday such as E30, Spec944, Miata, Honda Challenge, CMC, FFC, etc these are all classes where specific tech item such as pulling apart transmissions, pulling heads, dropping oil pans, etc can all take place.

ST/STR/PT much of the tech is visual earlier in the week as well as weight and dyno runs. Not as much post race inspections.

To answer some of the original questions, much of the schedule will stay the same as last year with the 3 major changes:

Group D will race first on Sunday AM and Group B will have the last race of the day to accommodate the ST competitors that want to super size to STR. Very few AI/AIX super sized to ST.

Spec E30 will move to Group E with 944Spec.

The days will be 40 minutes longer to accommodate the Formula Challenge (Formula Mazda) series as we did with F2000 in 2006 at M.O.

I hope to have the preliminary minute to minute schedule ready to share this weekend. It's in review right now.

I like the Saturday TT schedule better than the first draft. Thanks for changing it and thanks to whoever made the request/seuggestion.
