Those who run with NASA Mid Atl (other regions welcome 2)

This hurts a little to write this but I'm asking for some help. HC was huge here when I started my rise thru DE's with NASA 5 years ago, but the #'s are dwindling down. How can we grow our region. I went thru comp school back in March and was the only HC car at the event. I'm looking to see how many plan to continue to run with NASA Mid Atlantic in HC. I know Sander and Erik will be there in H2 from time to time and that’s super cool. But PTE in a CRX is looking very fun with class #'s of 5-6 and I know of 2 more cars being built. And H1 would be cool too if Kevin and John keep running pluss rolling a bunch of bimmers and moosetangs would be fun. I just don’t want to go dumping money into a car that runs in a class of 1. I know track time is key to going faster not the car, but if I'm by myself its a little eeeehhhh with no one to chase or actually race with.

Thanx for any input.

Michael

I'll be at all the VIR races as well running H2, and I'll be at Hyperfest if they'll let me sign up! H2 seems to be the class to be in, at least around this area. Karl Kondor has an H2 Accord that has been at VIR (when it's running well!), and Johnathan Baker has a CRX with an ITR swap (also hope it's running well!). There are a few other cars that show up occasionally, and in the Southeast region we typically have 4-5 H2 cars. PTE is nice, but it's my personal belief that Honda Challenge is for Hondas, and PT is for the misfit cars that don't have their own class. I'm leaning on David Rhodes to come back to HC with his PTE CRX. Especially with Honda sponsoring HC now, I think it's important that we all show as much support as we can. Trust me, I remember the days when 30+ Hondas went out to do battle; it was a beautiful sight. Call me a dreamer and a purist, but I believe that we can get back to that. Ask yourself, "If I don't go run Honda Challenge, who will?" If everyone waits for someone else to show up, no one will be there. I watched the forums last year as dozens of people said "I'll sign up for nationals when there's more people signed up in H2." It just doesn't work that way, it has to start with someone. It's all I can do to make it to as many races as I can, to show that the door is open for others. My rant is over, and I hope to see you at the track!

True True. I just need to get back in the car. I'll be at Hyperfest to hang out Sat and have signed up for VIR in July. Lets hope we see 30+ sooner than later. I'll have to get on Slagg about running H2 as well

The East Coast has a really good contingent of H2 cars and hopefully it will continue to grow. Unfortunetaly right now most are in the Northeast and can't make the Southeast events and only the Summit Mid-A events. I know John, kevin and I will be at the July VIR and I think Jonathan might be there as well. It is hard for a lot of people to tow 8 1/2 hours for a weekend of racing, whether it's down to CMP and VIR or up to NJMP and Watkins Glen. John Reamer and I went to Nationals last year and I will probably go again this year. I hope more East Coasters will decide to go despite the long trip.

I know how you feel. I came down from the NE and did EVERY Mid Atlantic event last year and many times I was the only one. I've been a 3rd shift worker for 6 years until this past May. Due to that, I cannot travel like I used to. Next year I will be coming down south more. Within 3 years I will be living down south so I can see me doing most of the MA events again.

I hopefully will be at Hyperfest. I made a paperweight of my engine in NJ back in April and due to the job change still have not had it swapped. I have the new engine in the back of my truck for months now and just need to pop the axles off, disconnect the fuel line, and the old is ready to pull. Going to Jersey today to pick up my rebuilt trans (lost 5th). If I can actually get motivated, I'll be there.

I'm shooting to go to Road Atlanta in August to begin my Summer 2 week vacation. Those 2 are the only out of region I can do this year.

For whatever.reason the rc has a hard on for the K in h1. It has been shown at every nats except one and now that motor isn't legal, that the h series and b series motors make more power then the k.

Not sure why they keep restricting the k in h1, but its road racing and the preparation of the car is more important then power...

Sell the head and slap a stock one back on it chad!

I may be doing more instructing rather than racing over the next few years because of school.

I'll run HC2 hopefully next year (2011) and have a couple friends who have the same goal. Presently HPDE 2 and will take comp school as soon as possible. I have noticed the low #'s in Mid-Atlantic and SouthEast during my HPDE's, and have been worried that the series may end before I can compete.
