Tim Comeau Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Our first female driver kicked some butt in the 944-spec class in our local San Diego PCA autocross. We have drivers coming up from AXing straight into road racing with NASA and Jackie is one of them. Jackie Corwin beat John Rickard #77, Brian Harnish, and 2 new comers driving one of my rental spec cars, Jim and John Rice. It's a milestone to get our first female driver in the series! This class is for everybody, right? Jackie will be racing wheel-to-wheel with us soon enough, but for now she's content to build her 944 to NASA 944-spec rules and work her way up. Talk about seat time................ Quote
Tim Comeau Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 Jim Rice has also been "recharged" about finishing his 944-spec car! I think his brother will want to share that ride, too...... I just put the number plates on Sean Steele's "Orange Crush" car. He'll be with us soon. Also, Michael Weeks told me his step dad saw the 944 he's preparing to race with us......and now HE wants one! Too funny how popular our little cars are........ Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Cool Tim, I have few more car pics I need to add to the website. Should be able to get that done this weekend. PS... This weekend I also plan complete the install of my motor. It is in the car now. By saturday afternoon it should running strong! Anybody making the trip over to the PCA Race here at PIR in few Weeks? I remember seeing Mike D. Boxster race looking to make the trip. Any ther POC, PCA or spec folks? Quote
Jackie Corwin Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Thanks Tim, who could be a better cheerleader than you! I don't expect this to be a fluke, especially after the respectable finish for the 1st time driving your car as well. Time will tell in this AX next week. In the interim, I was having the waterpump changed out and 2 bolts broke off so the motor might be coming out... Jackie Quote
Tim Comeau Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 Are you letting that hack-of-a-husband work on your precious race car?! Yes, I'm getting ready for the next event as well. Just secured a transmission (ex-Marguglio) for the red car. Can't wait till you get your NASA race license! Bill Addy is going to the racing school next weekend. Woo-hoo! Quote
mfoley Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Congratulations Jackie!!! Tim - When you get a chance please post all the times. Thanks, Quote
harnishclan Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 First off, congrats to Jackie. But in my defense Tim, my car broke! There was no time, since I did exactly a lap and a half in the first practice session. But putting that all aside, she would have beat me anyway. and by the way the break, as embarrassing as it sounds was the rotor bolt came off and allowed the rotor to free spin. I was trying to hard for it to be something big and overlooked the simple stuff! Quote
944-spec#09 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Coingrats to Jackie too! My SO is also autocrossing my car while we look for one for her. She is doing great an took top womens time at the AZ region Zone 8 autocross last Nov. So, Jackie you may have some competition! Quote
