speedracer33 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Hey, I was just wondering if anybody has heard from Kevin Helms today (or yesterday) to get an update on how he's doing? I saw him briefly after he came back to the track, just long enough to find out the good news from the doctors, but I was mostly distracted with my own problems at the time. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure he's okay, and send him my best. Thanks. Matt Quote
Karl Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 he was at the track sunday and was in good spirits but was very sore. Quote
National Staff Jeremy C. Posted June 21, 2010 National Staff Posted June 21, 2010 No kidding. Was there an on track incident over the weekend? Feel better soon Helms. Quote
speedracer33 Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Kevin was taking an outside pass on a fast turn (turn 9 for those who know Summit), and lost it on the marbles (which were TERRIBLE thanks to the drifting guys practicing the night before). He went into the tire barrier sideways, on the driver's side. Mike Fries, who is a doctor, took a look at him and suggested that it was likely a crack rib, and that he should look out for signs of internal bleeding. Some of those potential signs started to show, so he went to the hospital to be safe. Luckily, the hospital confirmed that it was just a broken rib, and nothing else was wrong. Logically, I knew that he would be alright, but I was concerned when it was all happening, and wanted to make sure everything was okay... Quote
EJO Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Yep, Kevin is doing OK but he was still pretty sore on Sunday. He stayed to watch the race but left soon after. He's going to be fine as long as he rests and doesn't over do it, which might be hard for Kevin since he is always moving and always working. Quote
National Staff Jeremy C. Posted June 21, 2010 National Staff Posted June 21, 2010 Wow, sorry to hear that. I'm glad you were alright Kevin! Quote
mcmmotorsports Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I almost cried when I turned to page 83 in this months issue of GRM. Glad that Kevin is okay, wish I could say the same for his car. Quote
