Bark3rd Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I've been in contact with a guy for over a year that has several ITA and Spec 7 cars in his shop, he has moved on to a much faster class and his previous car has been sitting for a couple or years, his price is now half of where we started and its a nice, clean race legal, log-booked Spec 7. I plan to use it for upcoming HPDEs then in the Dec FASST licensing school, then hopefully race it after that until I am worthy of a better car. I've been using my daily driver 09 WRX for track days for a year now and I don't want to keep modifying this thing because I don't plan to do wheel-wheel events with it. Need something CHEEP that I can ball up and walk away from if need be. Where does this type of car fit in the classes nowadays (probably ITA?) What do I need to know about getting into a car like this considering my intentions for it? Geez, its cheaper then one rental would be! Ive owned these cars before and like them, but I am sure there are things to know I haven't considered. Edumacate me please. Quote
mbuskuhl Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 ITA for SCCA PTF or PTE for NASA. You paying about $2500? Ask around here http://www.txspec7.org. There isn't a whole lot to know other than 12a housings are coming harder to come by and not as many options in the 13" wheel category. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Mark has ya covered, I would've said about the same thing. If you get the points setup right they're pretty decent in PTF... they look fun to drive, but the whole doritios on a stick fed by a carb kinda scares me about 'em. If you can learn to love that it'd be the perfect car for your needs it sounds like Quote
Bark3rd Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 LOL, "Doritos on a stick" that is great! Personally I find the rotary cars alot of fun to drive, they can sound like F1 cars with the right mods . Thanks for the info. See you guys out there .... Quote
