tacovini
Congrats to NASA's very own, Michael Maduske from MCM Motorsports (and the other finalists)!!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tooele, UT, 7 September 2010-The votes are in, and the winners have been named as six lucky, ambitious, driven, and media-savvy racers have been selected as finalists in the Ford Racing “Mustang Challenge Driver Shootout” this week at Miller Motorsports Park. The contest, a collaboration between BFGoodrich Tires, the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, and the Miller High Performance Driving School, will put one driver behind the wheel for the season-finale Mustang Challenge double-header race weekend at Miller Motorsports Park on September 11-12. The six winners were selected from a tremendous field of entrants as each prepared a short video (links available below) to stake their claim as to why they should be the newest member of the Mustang Challenge community. Six drivers got some very good news as Chris Neria, Dean Thomas, Eddie Nakato, Sean Johnston, Michael Maduske, Pat Wilmot were all contacted by the series to let them know to pack their bags after confirming that they had cleared the first step in the contest by being selected as a finalist and will head out to Salt Lake City next week. With generous support from White Lodging, the finalists will stay in one of three Marriott Hotel properties convenient to the track, downtown Salt Lake and the Salt Lake Airport as they take their next steps toward the pro ranks with some valuable training at Miller Motorsports Park as they open the race week from behind the wheel at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School for two days before moving into a variety of exercises in and out of the Ford Mustangs as a panel of judges keeps tabs on everyones progress. Any pro racer will tell you it isn’t only about lap times, and the judging will reflect that as the panel of judges on hand will watch as the drivers show their skills along the same scope of talents that are required for pro racing success in the modern world, from data analysis and media interaction to the ability to find a strong set up quickly. “We were impressed not only with how many racers responded to this opportunity, but even more so with the passion that was clear from all of them,” said Mustang Challenge Series Director Lynda Randall. “It was a challenge to pick just six! I am looking forward to meeting all the finalists and I know that this will be a week to remember for everyone involved. Thanks to BFGoodrich for helping to make this dream a reality for these drivers.” The Driver Shootout will be the first of two significant opportunities on offer from Mustang Challenge next week, as the winner of the 2010 Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Championship will take an impressive array of awards for the feat, not least of which will be a ride in the 2011 GRAND-AM Sports Car Challenge opener at Daytona International Speedway in January.
