The 2005 NASA TT Rules (v 2.3, revised 2-4-05) are now posted on the NASA website, and can be downloaded here: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/Time-Trial-Rules.pdf

Here are the highlights of the changes made: We have added a new class--TTU (unlimited) that will be above TTA. And, we have reclassified over 85 cars (some upward and some downward) to help equalize the classes as much as possible. We used the following factors to guide the decisions: car weights, hp, wt/hp ratios, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, skid pad results, slalom results, comparison between model years/suspension upgrades, etc. We were able to take advantage of the new double asterix (**) assessment for many of the reclassified cars. By adding the TTU class, we have relieved some of the "upper level class compression" that occurred as a result of upgrading the modification points to be more specific to road racing (instead of auto-x). We did not make any changes to the recently revised modification point scheme. So, the Car Classification sheet didn't change at all.

Any cars that are not listed will be given a provisional classification when they join us (either by a regional TT Director, or after a discussion between TT Directors). We will keep a thread on this forum listing provisionally classified vehicles. At the end of the season, all of these cars will be given final classification and added to the next year's rules. If you have any questions about the new rules, feel free to post them here, e-mail me or your regional TT Director.

NASA TT is growing rapidly (we have already increased our roster in SoCal by 60% and the season hasn't even started yet), and this should be a great season. The more qualified drivers that we have join us, the better the competition will be, and the more likely it will be that TT drivers will be able to have their own run groups, and eventually expanded competition events such as multi-regional or National events. So, I encourage all of our TT drivers to help us in recruiting qualified drivers.
