devrock Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 My firrst HPDE was with them 3 years ago, but I've noticed that last year they had very few track days in New England, and there still isn't a 2005 schedule posted. Yet, all other clubs have thier 05 shceds up and are actively registering people. I've emailed them and got nothing back. What's going on? Quote
chrisallen76 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 NASA-NorthEast is very much alive! As far as HPDE's go, you can expect 2-3 dates at Pocono, 2 days at Watkins Glen, & a day at Lime Rock. I believe the schedule will be up shortly! Quote
JoeLee Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 The 2005 schedule went to my Webmaster today. Quote

devrock Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 The 2005 schedule went to my Webmaster today. So, that was Feb. 10. How long does it take him to do a page? I'll do it for you for free in about 20 minutes. Quote

Wow...that's a disappointing schedule. Looks like another year w/o NASA for my track days. Congrats to the new pops. Ya might want to check out other NASA regions if NE's schedule doesn't work for you. Many of us just came back from VIR full course in February with NASA-MA (old Virginia region). I know I for one had a blast on a course I've never driven before and finally met a slew of people I had only known for a few years prior from web chats and emails. As well, I got to watch some real races live that I hadn't previously experienced. It was alot of fun for many of us. There are also other clubs available as well. I was ready to go with PCA to LRP on the 24th of March but had to back out at the last minute, so my spot may still be open if you're interested. Quote
spin9k Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I sadly note that if NASA NE is not dead... it's certainly not healthy. My 1st year (last year) of HPDEs was with them, and I mightly enjoyed it. They've got to know we've been waiting for the 1st good weather to do it again, yes? Seeing but one (1) HPDE scheduled until 8/27 shows something is terribly out of wack! Is there anything anyone can do (probably not this year) to fix NASA-NE? Suggesting we go to another part of the country to do HPDEs is ludicrous - drive 1000-3000 miles both ways? Maybe not Do they need some kind of help? Are the organizers not interested? Are they losing money? Can't someone in the know at NASDA-NE expain what happened this year and how to return to the days of past glory and a full schedule? PS I'm only guessing things were not like this previously. Quote
jp99gt Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Spin9k, Depending upon where you live, you may find the eastern OH/IN region's events at BeaveRun feasible. There are two this year, one in June and one in September. Quote

Now....? Even then, one of the dates is Pocono. Blah. PDA and SCDA seem to be the clubs to go with now. Quote

PS I'm only guessing things were not like this previously. What years are you refering to? As far as I know in recent years, the first track event is usually not until June/July & is Pocono. The schedule is basically the same as it has been for the past 3 years or so. I guess for a lot of us in the North-East, driving 600-800 miles for a good track event is worth it. (ie. VIR, Mid-Ohio,etc.) The only tracks that NASA North-East uses in the actual geographic North-East are Pocono (3 track days there this year), Watkins Glenn (2 track days there this year), & Lime Rock (1 track day there this year). Also, Summit Point is very close to the North-East (approx. 4 hours from NYC - same distance as Watkins Glenn). NASA Mid-Atlantic has several days there each year, so many of the North-East members join them. Although it is slightly farther (~8-9 hours from NYC), VIR is a wonderful track & NASA Mid-Atlantic hosts several days there each year as well. In fact, ~25 members of NASA North-East went down to VIR in February for a 3-day track weekend with NASA Mid-Atlantic. (we now go every year) There are also other clubs that the North-East splits available track days with including EMRA, PDA, & BMWCCA. These are all good clubs & a lot of the NASA members also go to their track-days. Also, although it is called NASA- NorthEast, most of the North-East club's track events are centered within 4-5 hours of NYC. I see that you asked about New England...unfortunately, many of the NASA North-East track days rarely go North of Lime Rock, CT. If you are looking for track days with NASA in Maine, Vermont, Mass., or New Hampshire, then you are unfortunately SOL Quote
JoeLee Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 WAY back in the very beginning of NASA - when it was known as NASA TriState - we had a spring track day at Lime Rock. The loss of that day, and the loss of the August Saturday at LRP, is apart of the reason the Region changed hands. Still, our schedule has as many or more HPDEs than it ever did in the past. Our schedule is almost the same as last year - just Lime Rock changed the day. We haven't LOST events, but we have been unable to secure more/better ones. If someone thinks they can get us dates we would LOVE to hear from you. If some one wants to invest the $$ to take us to the next level - DEFINITELY PM me! Quote
