Paladin Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Hello everyone I've been a lurker around here, and i was thinking of heading out to watch the HC race at Thunder hill next weekend, to see how everything works and maybe meet some of you. My main question is, what day/time should i try to arrive at the track? i'm not sure when the HC classes go out there -Weston Quote
BrianZ Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 The schedule is posted here http://www.nasaproracing.com/norcal/events/schedule.htm HC is in group A I would probably come sometime before qualifying if you want to hang out and talk. hang out as long as you like, all the Hc guys usually pit together. After the track closes we usually hang around and watch that days videos, you should hang out for that! Quote
ek_brandon Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 if you get to the track saturday evening, you can set up a tent, and hunker down for the "Lock's video hour" and a beer and possibly barbeque. thats optimal schmooze time. then you wake up in the morning to the sound of the american iron guys , because theres no chance you will sleep through that... (or if your rich like mike quan, you sleep in the hotel in willows with the attractive ladies at the front counter) but if your like me, you get out of your tent at 8 and drive into willows and eat some burger king and try to make it back before qualifying.... with some coffee and a whopper. then sit on turn 15 to watch the races with your king-like meal, so you can watch the HC guys set pole ahead of the USTCC guys! (haha) Quote
Paladin Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 well, i'm in chico, which is about a half hour east from Willows, so i can probably just drive up in the morning hopefully i'll get to meet everyone there and put a face to the name (I'd seen Andrie on another forum), it really sounds like a fun group. slammed_93_hatch Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 defently come out and check things out, its a blast and all the guys are cool. hey i live in chico too, and ill be going to the race. there fun to watch, chit chat and what not. most of the time if your freindly and have a helmet you can find a group3-4 guy that will take you for a ride, this is really fun, not as fun as driving but you can learn alot Quote

(haha) Exuse me! 2:02.4... I don't see and Honda running those times that weekend. And that was without the "New and Improved GOTO:Racing WRX." Quote
BrianZ Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 We were the run group in front of you were we not? We know the WRX(in your hands) is the all powerfull machine.. Quote
ek_brandon Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 ok, i will change me previous statement to say that brian (godlike wrx pilot) lock didnt turn slower laps. that being said, i also remember him passing all the HC guys even after starting behind them... INSIDE ON THE DIRT IN TURN 7!!!! that was funny... Quote

Brian tested out the WRX's rally abilities in 12-13 .. Quote
Members Brian L. Posted February 12, 2005 Members Posted February 12, 2005 Yes yes yes... I thought that I would give the dirt a try since I ran out of track. But when Honda's are three wide in front of you, that is the only place to PASS!!! Quote

I don't think it is specified whether "gaining a position" only goes for class cars. The USTCC field was doing alot of "passing in the grass" that weekend, mostly to avoid collisions with the erratic HC and PS1 race. Thanks for not hitting us guys! Quote

Well I wasn't really trying to pass the HC car in the dirt, I was just joking. I got loose in the dust and marbles off line and went off. It was not intentional. In fact, I lost positions to both HC cars and USTCC cars when I went off. But yes, you can't gain position off track. Quote
