Two Loops or Hooks?

Admiral

Recommended Posts

With the new rule I've been searching for a tow loop or hook solution for my SN95. I can't seem to find much on this topic, web searches usually just get me some NOPI factory hooks that are anodized or links to rules for other series.

Who sources these things and is there a kit or is this a custom fab job and most are doing their own engineering? Just looking for some idea/guidance on this topic, TIA!

Mine are simply plate aluminum that bolts to the bottom of the front and rear bumper. They've worked great so far, and they HAVE gotten used a few times. Just make sure you spec out thick enough AL, and have some good hardware on there.

Here are some thread about tow hooks...

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. Quick question, do they protrude from the bumpers and if so, how far? Seems to me that it might do damage if there were incidental contact in a race? I'm pretty clueless on how/where/what to mount them, guess everyone has a unique solution.

Use soft hooks to prevent damage if you like. Basically, like an axle strap, but instead of a loop on both ends have a seat belt type anchor on the other so you can bolt it to a mount welded onto your chassis. I am pretty sure a company such as M&R can custom make these to whatever length you need and with the proper ends.

I'm actually adding big abnoxious hooks to the front and rear of my car to deter people from "incidental" contact. Perhaps that will reduce the amount of car to car contacts!!
