Cheap_Thrills
Well, hard times hit, lost my job, so I need to sell the 944 It's an '84 Gaurds Red with 104K miles. It's in Modesto, CA. I don't want to think about how much is invested, but I'll take a loss on it because I need to get some real transportation. This car is almost spec ready, all it needs is a window net and transponder. Off the top of my head, here's what it has: - Autopower cage with 2nd door bars installed both sides. - Aluminum Ultrashield Rally drivers seat w/ backbrace. - Aluminum Ultrashield passenger seat. - GForce harnesses both seats, SFI (expire 2011 I think) - Center net. - Kill switch installed in dash with cable pull to driver's fender. - Bilstien HD's all around. - Ground Control coilovers. - 275lb springs - 28mm T-bars - Turbo sways(25.5mm/18mm I think) - 1 set 15" Cookie Cutters (currently have the highway tires on them) - 1 set of 15x7"/15x8" Fuchs( has RA-1's with 3 trackdays on them) - Clutch was replaced just before I bought it, so it has about 8K on it. - T-belt replaced recently. - AC deleted. - Interior stripped. I need 4K, or trade for a decent daily driver. I can be reached here or at [email protected] I'll take some pics, for now here are a couple of recent ones from my photobucket page. I'll be back. Been 15 years since I filled out a resume, but if anyone needs a telecom / fiber optic guy, I'm your man.

b f cybronetics
Charlie: I greatly appreciate you looking out for the well being of my son and non wife apprpriate ways for me to spend my money You are correct though it would make a very good HPDE car for him but maybe not the best driving around town car for a 20 year old. It may be cheaper than the Audi A6 in the end just spent $1,000 for new rotors and pads after a weekend at willow springs and 3 days at Cal Speedway. I am thinking of getting the car for him. Would it be possible to see the car on September 10th or 12th. I may be driving through Modesto on my way to Reno
Cheap_Thrills
I've had alot of people intrested, but nobody has shown me the money yet. So if I still have it, the 10th or 12th would be fine. I can also take more pics if theres something specific you want to see. Also, the photos I posted don't show the full cage, but i have it all. I removed the front section to install the kill switch. Goes back together in about 30 min. I'll PM you my phone number or you can e-mail me: [email protected] Side note: My 20 year old son and 18 year old daughter drive it around town once in a while, to school and such, but they know they have to behave when driving a bright red racecar on the street so they never get in any trouble at all. In fact, I built this car because when my son was 17 he was getting in trouble street racing his 300zx; getting tickets left and right and in a couple of accidents. When we started doing HPDE's, that all ended.
V/T Andy
are there any leaks or any mechanical issues to be concerned with? Do you think it would be a major pain to drive this down to orange county?
rbrumm
Gary Do you plan to be out running at Infineon October 9 & 10 ? Thanks Rick
Cheap_Thrills
are there any leaks or any mechanical issues to be concerned with? Do you think it would be a major pain to drive this down to orange county? Only leak is very small cam tower gasket leak. If it's not started for a few weeks, it smokes up the engine bay a bit. Burns away in a few minutes, no biggie. Never low on oil between changes and doesn't overheat. Power steering works, no leaks. The extra aet of wheels is for highway use. Furthest we've driven it is home from Buttonwillow and Thunderhill when we had trailer problems, about 3 hours. Wasn't bad, just used a small butt cushion. But that was always in early morning or at night, might be a bit warm for a long daytime trip during the summer with no AC.
Cheap_Thrills
Gary Do you plan to be out running at Infineon October 9 & 10 ? Thanks Rick As much as I hate to miss it, I just can't make it to any more track days for a while.
rbrumm
Gary I did'nt think you would be racing but maybe just bringing your rig down so it's out in front of everyone With all the new HPDE drivers out there there may be someone who will slap down some bucks for you... if I did'nt have a car already your car would be sitting in my driveway I tried to convince my wife that I needed a second car but she did'nt go for it good luck on you sale Rick
Cheap_Thrills
Not that the cupboards are bare yet, I just need to get rid of the toy. It's been 2 weeks so... I'll sweeten the deal and throw in my racing gear: - OMP 3 layer Nomex FIA legal suit, size 56. I'm 6' 190 and fits me, my son is 5'9" 170lb and fits him ok too. - OMP single layer Gloves - Sparco Shoes. Only label is French 42, not sure what US size is. I wear a 10 and they're just a little tight, so I'd say they are 9.5. - Zamp SA2005 Helmet with bag. - 2 Balclavas, one is Puma, one I/O Port's generic - Sparco neck support. If everything fits, all you'd to get is a Head/Neck restraint. Same price, $4000. This is the best deal anyone will find to start racing with a dependable car. genikz
Jesus...why the hell hasn't this car sold yet? If I wasn't saving for a house, I would buy it as a spare... Good luck with the sale.
tonyrx7
Gary, I was just checking to see if the car is still for sale. I'm in the Portland, Oregon area and am considering switching to a 944 spec racer to race in ICSCC/SCCA (E production class). Thanks, Tony Hauser Pro-7 #
Cheap_Thrills
yep, still available. I figured I'd give it a little longer, then just assume everyone's broke these days because this is about as cheap as you'll find. If nobody bites soon, I'll probably just keep it, put some new signs on it and drive it around town to promote my new business with it. krystar
if my car wasn't nagging me to fix it, i'd be on a plane to cali to drive this home.
Cheap_Thrills
Tony from Portland is the new owner of the #44 car! Couldn't go to a nicer guy. So, it's officially sold. Thanks to NASA forums.
Tim Comeau
Congrats, Tony! See if you can get together with Eric Schwenter and start a 944 spec group up there. Just list yourselves in one of the regular classes, which I'm told you can't win with a 944, but only compare your race results against other 944 spec cars. A race within a race. Big Dog
There is a great group up there now, Tim. Because there is no NASA, they run SCCA. Greg Fordahl has been developing 944's for years. By the way, he is THE MAN for suspension and set up information. His help was what helped me go from a mid pack guy to running at the front. Tim Comeau
Yes, I know. They are forced to run in ITS or such and are uncompetitive from what Eric has told me. That's why I suggested my idea again. The bonus is that they could make an event at Thunderhill or Sear's Point with their 944's as is. cbuzz
SCCA will allow a regional only class if they want to. This will depend on the region and how many cars they have in class. A 944 can be made to be competitive in ITS but the cubic dollars required is huge.
