almost heaven Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I'm planning to put some wire mesh over the front of my car to protect radiator, oil cooler, intercooler. Summit sells several different type with opening sizes 5/16, 3/16, 1/8. Also different wire thickness: 0.035 and 0.047. I'm thinking 1/8 is too small, and 5/16 is too big. Maybe 3/16 is just right? Any recommendations? Quote
mbuskuhl Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I use this for my radiator/oil cooler and have no complaints http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3641 Quote
almost heaven Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Is aluminum mesh strong enough, or do i need steel to be reasonable safe? Quote
nape Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 You can get steel (not stainless) mesh at most hardware stores. Sometimes called hardware cloth or chicken wire. The price is way cheaper then Pegasus and you'll have enough left to make 2-3 more. Quote
Trevor57 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I double layered standard hardware store stuff on our LeMons car. We threw bolts, and stuff at it as hard as we could to "test" it. So I would say it's pretty stout. Quote
