Recommended Size of Wire Mesh

I'm planning to put some wire mesh over the front of my car to protect radiator, oil cooler, intercooler. Summit sells several different type with opening sizes 5/16, 3/16, 1/8. Also different wire thickness: 0.035 and 0.047. I'm thinking 1/8 is too small, and 5/16 is too big. Maybe 3/16 is just right? Any recommendations?

Is aluminum mesh strong enough, or do i need steel to be reasonable safe?

You can get steel (not stainless) mesh at most hardware stores. Sometimes called hardware cloth or chicken wire. The price is way cheaper then Pegasus and you'll have enough left to make 2-3 more.

I double layered standard hardware store stuff on our LeMons car. We threw bolts, and stuff at it as hard as we could to "test" it. So I would say it's pretty stout.
