HPDE 1 and how to get started

Hi, nasa's website is unclear and I have contacted the person for my region (northeast) but they never responded. My question is, when you sign up for a membership, do you automatically get put into HPDE 1? Or do you have to sign up in a separate area? For example on the event signup page there are events and you can pick what class you are in. If you pick HPDE 1 are you automatically put with an instructor?

HPDE1 are all instructor led.

Here in the Florida region, after tech, all HPDE1 drivers head to the hot pits and meet your instructor. To register for any event, you must become a NASA member. Best of luck.
