John Graber
Where can I buy a transponder? Are they available used? Thanks, John
Markus
The NE Ohio branch of the SCCA sells transponders (http://www.neohio-scca.org). Their pricing is pretty good - $285 for the direct wired unit. Connie, the lady that handles the sales, is very nice and she sends them out quickly. jp99gt
On-Track Performance sells them as well, and they compete in NASA events in the AI series. (http://www.on-trackperformance.com)
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 2, 2005 National Staff Share Posted March 2, 2005 You can also buy them directly from AMB http://www.amb-it.com/amb.asp , but it looks like you may be able to get them cheaper from other vendors.
Markus
Oh yeah - you also asked about used ones. I have seen used ones listed from time to time but they go really quick - so if you see one jump on it. It also seems like they go for $250 used, which helped influence my decision to buy one. I figure even if I only use it for a couple of events I can still sell it and get most of my money back. You going to MidOhio? If so, look for me - can't wait to get back on the track! - Mark
John Graber
I'll be there. Looking forward yo your photographic expertise. I do owe you a beer form the pictures you e-mailed me last year from Beaver Run. I guess I'll buy a new Transponder, though I'm always looking for a bargain. Wednesday my wife told me the car fund is empty. Now I'll have to ship stuff to work. John
SSmike1
if i buy a transponder, how do you distinguish yours from others? in other words, if i buy one, how do i make sure no-one has the same ID number as me? or can ya change it? after ya buy it? thanks SSmike1 # 157 TTC Midwest Div. National Staff Greg G. Posted April 7, 2005 National Staff Share Posted April 7, 2005 AMB makes each transponder with it's own number built into it. There are no two transponders with the same number.
