If at any time someone needs to update their registration for car #'s, sponsors, transponder numbers (hint, hint), etc

You can do so by donig the following:

1. Go back to nasaproracing and login.

2. Over on ther left side, there are 2 options "My Profile" and "My Events"

My Profile allows you to change all your details, mailing address, email, phone and default car information.

My Events leads you to specific events where you can change car info for specific events.

any charge / cost / tickets for the season awards banquet?

Silly question from me. Did you pay in the past for the banquet?

I am thinking how I'd like to handle it is that the awards party will be handled like all of the other Saturday night parties we will host at each event. NASA provides the food, drinks, entertainment (music, video equipment, RockBand ) as part of your normal entry fee. If you are feeling generous or have brought 5 or 6 crew people to eat and would like to make a donation it would be appreciated.

I've got the whole menu and party theme mapped out for 2011 in Rocky Mountain, but am still trying to get a general feel for Texas before we nail down themes and food for the Saturday night parties. Here's what we have so far:

Jan MSRH - Awards Party - Mexican Food ('cause I thought it was pretty good last year)

March MSRC - St. Patty's - food TBD but something Irish related and good beer.

June Hallett - No theme other than "It's Hallett!!!" If you've never been to Hallett for Saturday night, you need to go. Hallett will cater a nice Okalahoma style dinner for us with all the good stuff and fix'ins.

Everything else is open and we're open to suggestions.

The Saturday night parties are open to EVERYONE!!!! HPDE, TT, Racers, NASA Staff, Track Staff, Guests, Sponsors, etc.

good to hear Dave I'll drop some $$ in the bucket if I'm not able to get the car ready and get an entry fee together.

Any chance the 2010 award winners will be posted up anywhere? Would be nice to have a sticky at the top of the page with the award winners listed, and....perhaps, maybe, on the NASA TX website even??

At the least I'll show up for HPDE. At best I'll get my act together and get the car weighed/classed, get numbers, buy a transponder, buy a log-book, and run TTB(?); if the 6-month old provisional license paperwork is still good. I turned-down working in Daytona for a track weekend, lol.

My theme in general for any track weekend is "Drinkin, shootin, racin!"

Dave,

What is the schedule for SMC. I am entered but am on the fence about participation. Several of us like to double up the NASA and SCCA events when they are running the same direction. It appears you intend to run this race CW which would thwart some of our plans. Also it is unclear as to the format of the races. Last year most of the races were run:

Sat. Practice, Qual, short race, regrid based on finishing and short race

Sun. Qualifying, then 40+ minute race.

Will that be the same format for NASA Texas this year.

Also this race is a blast if you run it both directions during one weekend.

Michael, It sounded like a great compromise, run CW one day and CCW the other, until I realized there are probably others like myself that don’t have experience running both directions. Believe you would agree the time to learn a track isn’t when the green flag drops . Sorry

How about we just let each driver decide individually? That might actually be worthy of an episode of Lucal Oil "On the Edge"

From what I've read there is a Practice day for $150 on Friday if that helps.

the practice day on Friday could be run the same way as we did in the Nov. SCCA....CW...a.m. and CCW in the p.m., that takes care of Toby's concern re: leaning track, also answers concerns from SCCA guys wanting to run the Feb. race at MSR....furthermore, if we run the same as last year we will have practice session prior to qualifing....just thought!

Now that I have a few things out of the way (tech day and prep for instructor school), I wanted to get back to this thread.

I hope this does not ramble too much, but addresses several comments made in various places and emails.

Direction:

When I set the direction for Jan MSRH, I based it off the following:

1. NASA had historicaly run in CW direction.

2. That was the direction that I personaly saw last January, I wanted to see it in a different direction this year.

3. I was asked to mix things up and was requested by several drivers that we try CW.

After making the call on direction, I was asked and called by a couple of people with concerns regarding racing quality, passing zones, safety, etc. Is it fun and is it safe? Will this be a good learning environment for my HPDE participants? These are all top priority to me.

In the big picture, the direction that another sanctioning body is runnning does not top that list. I am truly sorry that there is a group of drivers that will be inconvienienced because the NASA event will not be the best opportunity to test and tune for the SCCA event that runs after us. If SCCA truly set their direction for this year based off the fact that NASA ran CCW direction last year, I was unaware of this. If it's true, then I made a major boner. Due to my error, is there a chance that SCCA can change their direction to CW so that the people that raced with NASA will be able to use their time spent with us as an advantage ?

We try our best to put on top quality events (i.e. SAFE, FAIR and FUN) that are 100% compatible with everyone's needs, but the fact is, you can't cover every situation to meet 100% of the desires of 100% of the participants. If I am getting safe, fair and fun for a reasonable price for the majority then I am hitting that mark. After each and every NASA weekend I judge the sucess of that event, not in $$ or if we paid the bills, but based off the smiles and "thank you's" that our staff receives from the participants. I also don't base sucess or lack thereof off who didn't show up, but I do base off return participants. I can only hope that people will like what they see at MSRH and we will be flooded with entries for Cresson.

Growth

Are we working on getting SM fields (as well as others) up to the level they could be? Yes!!!! Believe it or not, I raced an event in my SM as part of the Wheels America series. What a blast! I'd love to see that again and even be part of it (rental anyone??). Is setting direction to CW my intent to irk-off SM competitors and make sure they don't want to run with NASA as stated in another forum? No!!! This would not be in line with growth.

What is in line with growth? Nailing down a tech and incident review process for fair, quick and consistant determination in line is in line with growth. So is reducing the work involved with registration and other key locations for both drivers and staff. Streamlining and fine tuning other processes to allow us to reduce entry fees is part of fueling growth. NASA staff providing pre-tech days so you don't have to push your car through a long line at the track on Friday night (BTW, there are still 2 more - 15th @ H2R and 22nd in Houston).

# of races and length:

Somewhere, someone started a rumor that we would only schedule one short race each day. I can say without a doubt that this is not true.

For MSRH, the classes will have similar schedule to last year. In the case of SM, 2 races with the practice and qual on Sat and then another AM session on Sunday (race?qual?practice?) and then a 40 minute race.

Beyond that, we may mix things up a bit but you will still enjoy that same 75-90 minutes of race time each day that you have come to enjoy with NASA.

If anyone would like examples of typical schedules that I have done for RM over the past 5 years, please feel free to check a few here and then browse for others.

http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=3985

http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=3662

http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=3827

We also throw in extra races along the way. Grudge matches between all classes, showdowns between 944Spec and CMC, Hanksville Challenge Races. I had one weekend where we cancelled the last race as i only had 3 cars show up to grid for the extra 20 minute race. Everyone else was tired and packed up and sitting around drinking beer already.

I typically have a preliminary schedule ready to be posted a few weeks before the event. Watch this forum for that schedule.

NOTE: Please feel free to call me if you have questions and concerns like this!!! Posting on other forums than this, esp class specific forums where I don't have a login or know that the post is there does not get straight and quick answers!!! Again, 972-584-9375. It's the M-F 9-5 phone for NASA. If I cant' answer the phone right then and there, we do our best to get back to you with a call or email within 24 hours.
