BOTTOM END MAINTENANCE

After a year of putting off the build, the engine is out.

I would like to know what needs to be replaced on a 120,000 mile engine. Oil pump, oil pickup tube, timing chain? My goal is to try and complete by June.

I did Comp. school in July and I am running in SE30. This is going to be a car that my son-in-law can do HDs in if I can get him off of circle tracks as well as a spare for me.

The car is a 94 325i that was a auto and a lot of FUN changing it over to a 5-speed

Thanks

With the bottom off, I'd at least replace the rod bearings/rod bolts (bolts are one time use) and lock the oil pump sprocket nut (reverse thread - either tack weld or thread lock (Loctite) at the very least)

120k, the engine is just a baby! Agree with Will, rod bearings, bolts and secure the oilnut. I'd do more maintenance on the top if there is time/money constraints.
