What insurance are you referring to? If it is your first NASA event, you should be in HPDE1..

Depending on your region HPDE4 may run with Time Trials. Timed competition sessions usually aren't covered by your typical track insurance providers from what I've seen, and may exclude DE4 just so you can't pull one over on them by running TT, wrecking, and claiming you were in DE4 instead.

Do you know if NE and Mid-Atlantic run this way ?

Thanks for your help

HPDE4 is not timed in mid-atlantic. It is the instructor group. Some instructors run in the TT group instead. And sometimes (but not always - depending on group size) the TT warmup takes place in the first HPDE4 session of the day. During those sessions, times are taken for TT'ers only to make sure transponders are working correctly.

Can anyone speak to the Insurance company to clarify HPDE4 ?

DE insurance through Locton Affinity. They are the endorsed company of both BMW and PCA. They sell per event and this year package policies

In mid-atlantic, run in HPDE3 if you're concerned about it.

Ok, That was my thought, do I need to re-register ? Probably need to show insurance co.

FYI - I'm in the same boat. I get insurance through Lockton's HPDE program (Northeast).

But they exclude NASA HPDE-4, so I just sing up for HPDE-3 instead. I had no problems with it - point bys were timely most of the time.

But that is just me - I don't like to pass people without point-bys or obvious eye contact, anyway.

But it would be nice to get NASA to convince Lockton to cover HPDE-4, like they cover the other advanced run groups (SCDA, etc).

Maybe if we ask enough questions they will do what is needed. I will sign up for HPDE3,

Thanks

In mid-atlantic, HPDE3 is the advanced group (pass anywhere with a point-by, non-instructed.) HPDE4 is the instructor group (same passing rules.)
