back to road racing
I tried finding it in the rules with no luck. During a pit-stop, and gas is being put in the car, how many people are allowed over the wall? Is it only 1 person allowed to clean and inspect the car while fuel is going in? Does the person helping the drivers get in and out of the car have to wear a fire suit? Could a non fire suited person be in the car on the passenger side helping with belts while fuel is going in? Thanks, Leslie
wlfpkrcn1
During a pit-stop, and gas is being put in the car, how many people are allowed over the wall? 8.13.4 There is no limit to the number of crewmembers over the wall during a pit stop. However, each person over the wall must be there to perform a function. In other words, there is no spectating from the hot pit lane. Note- crewmembers may be “over the wall” as soon as their car enters the pitlane. Is it only 1 person allowed to clean and inspect the car while fuel is going in? 8.7.1. No work may be performed on the car while it is being fueled. The team may change drivers and/or clean windows and lights while refueling. Removing tape from lights is considered to be cleaning them. Taking tire temperatures, measuring tire pressure, etc is considered to be working on the car. 8.13.4 There is no limit to the number of crewmembers over the wall during a pit stop Does the person helping the drivers get in and out of the car have to wear a fire suit? No only the refueler need to be in a fire suit. 24.6 Minimum Attire Any participant in the hot pits must wear at least a T-shirt, pants, and shoes (no open toed shoes). Shorts in the pit lane are permitted except during sessions requiring refueling such as endurance racing. Some racetracks may have more restrictive requirements. Could a non fire suited person be in the car on the passenger side helping with belts while fuel is going in? Yes, 8.13.4 There is no limit to the number of crewmembers over the wall during a pit stop
kbrew8991
beware as lots of regions will have their own Enduro rules supplements with region, track, and/or event specific rules that may override the general enduro ruleset.
wlfpkrcn1
I went with the assumption of the thread title and OP location
richard migliori
Above and beyond: all rules can not cover all the bases. Use common sense and do what you need to do to be in your own safe zone. We fuel our car from both sides. The the fuel cap is inches away from the driver and helpers heads and arms. As a safety precaution, our pit guys that help the driver in and out of the car (both sides) have full suits on. REMEMBER: these rules are minimum guidelines.
