66 Mustang Only Has Lapbelt

I would like to drive my '66 Mustang in HPDE 1. It currently has Scat Pro Ralley seats but it only has the oringinal style lapbelts. There's no rollbar so there's nothing to attach a 3 or more point seatbelt to.

Will it be possible to drive it in a HPDE1 event?

Send an email to the registrar in the region you want to participate in.

I've instructed in a GT500 at VIR with a different group.

The lap belts were OK, wish I had a shoulder harness - it had the original seats even.

You may need to figure out something to pass tech.

Great to see the older cars out there!

I'd say you have two options.

1. Find another car to drive on track.

2. Figure out a way to properly mount harnesses or 3pt belts in the Mustang.

Common sense has to prevail here. Can you imagine what would happen to you (and your instructor) in a frontal impact?

Have you ever seen those crash test dummy videos from the 50's, 60's and 70's?

As an instructor, there's no way I'd get in that car with only a lap belt.

In Arizona region we won't pass a car through tech with just lap belts. And in any event, I would not agree to instruct in a car with just lap belts. And I've even instructed in a TR6.
