TurboShortBus
Although your M3 may have shocks made by Bilstein, are they the OEM (original) shocks that may have been provided to BMW by Bilstein, or something else, such as improved shocks made by Bilstein? Generally speaking, the lower classes are cheaper to run in. You will want to maximize your available points in each class in order to make your car as competitive as possible. BMW M3 (E36)('95-'99) TTD* 3175 lbs You have 12 points to play with to stay in TTD, as the * is good for +7. Assuming that you have no other modifications: +1 for C4 (K&N cone filter) +2 for C24 (muffler) +3 for E3 (shocks - assumption of non-OEM) +6 so far +10 for A2 (Hoosier R6, etc. compounds) -4 for A6 (use a 225 mm tire) +6 for tires +12 maximizes you for TTD or +7 for A3 (Toyo RA1, Nitto NT01, etc. compounds) -1 for A6 (use a 235 mm tire) +6 for tires +12 maximizes you for TTD or +2 for A4 (treadwear 120-200) +4 for A4 (use a 265 mm tire) +6 for tires +12 maximizes you for TTD Or any other combination. Choose your parts carefully. Note that the competitiveness of your car is not guaranteed in any particular class. In addition to the above, you must meet the weight/power ratio requirements for TTD (14.25 lbs/rwhp) per Appendix C, regardless of your points. dans2k
BMW M3 (E36)('95-'99) TTD* 3175 lbs thats enough for 225 A6's and some stiff springs or swaybars and a spare point I ran the s2000 in TTD for a while thats TTD** and it was pretty still pretty quick I think the M3 would clean up in TTD

OK...what are A-6 tires? I thought they were a brand of Hoosiers (like the R-6 The tires I got were Continental 225 17s. They are Slicks tho... So, if I am reading this correctly, If my car has OEM Bilisteins, then I am legal for TTD on the continental slicks...right? I would prefer to stay in the lower classes simply because I would rather spend my first year learning as cheaply as I could...Since I am almost sure my 18 year old son will insist he goes with me...so I will probably be keeping up 2 cars! kbrew8991
put on the brakes - get into at least HPDE3 with very to minimal modifications to the car as it sits (besides safety stuff if you wish). then revisit these plans.

Yeah, you are probably right. I am still not sure if my car will be ready for the Dec 2nd Road A event. She is still in the shop... ugggg. LOL I pretty much have everything else ready to go except for ordering the Brake Pads and changing out the brake fluid.
