AIX Cars

I am new to NASA for the upcoming season and trying to determine which region to run. I live on Oklahoma (Hallett is my home track) and could make either the Central or Texas region work, but want to run AIX...is there anyone that will be running AIX in either of those regions? I really don't want to run in an ST class and my car would take a bit too much changing to make AI a reality.

So are there any others out there ready to make a season of it?

Thanks

AIX has been a catch all class for the last several years in TX...only cars without dyno's or just happen to make too much power. Maybe 4 cars have competed in it the last 5 years...none of which were very EXTREME. You would be better to de-power to AI or run ST1.

I "was" going to run AIX before the spec tire was announced as being the cheaper toyo. I'm going to have to drop a few ponies, pickup some torque and not worry so much about weight reduction this winter. I will dyno the car to AI HP/TQ weight rules.

I left SCCA because ITE/ITO is freakin' joke. I was/am tired of basically just going out running laps and every few laps blitzing the other IT guys that actually were racing each other and having a good race. Steel sharpens steel I want some competition!

Check out www.drivenasacentral.com there looks to be about 5 maybe 6 AI cars in the central region already. For a startup region running its first full season thats pretty good and hopefully will get even better! Be sure to register and post up in the forums!!

Mike,

I'm not sure what kind of HP you are making and if it would be worth trying to get down to AI levels, but Mark and I will be running both of our AI cars in Central Region this year. There is a new, energetic series director that wants to make AI fun and competitive.

Mike,

The TX waters run heavy with AI. We are expecting 7-9 car fields for 2012 each weekend. As it was pointed out, we have had only a small handful (1-2) cars run AIX. The most extreme was a 430RWHP 4th gen Camaro that has since detuned to AI power levels.

Where in Oklahoma are you? Hallett is and will be the mini-Nat's for NASA. This last year had a 4-region cross over event. For 2012, the Hallett Summer Shootout is June 9-10... come on down!

Good to see you here Mike. Knowing your car (not that well) You probably fit best in one of the ST classes. I dont think you can crank that sixer up high enough for AIX and AI would be tough to tune down to. You may want to look at the classes and repower accordingly

Thanks for the input from everyone!

I have really tried to look over the different classes and unfortunately it looks like I will either be an underpowered AIX or ST1 car. My car has has too many mods that can't be changed to make AI work and it would be difficult to make it into ST2 as well. So it looks like I may havew to be the lone ranger in AIX...

But if several of you that have restricted or tuned down your cars to make AI would turn them loose and run AIX we could have a really great time this season...at least until we hit Nationals and had to run with the big dog AIX'ers!!!
