Jay,

The Weltmeister bushings are fine. Talk to me about the caster block.

I'm asking because the part isn't from one of our 944 years and it's a change for better performance. Is that accurate?

Don't know much about it but I'd guess so. Mine is hanging off on one side so I plowed through the Paragon site looking for all the "better" things to go on there. I won't be doing GSR/944-spec (but maybe POC GP ST & TT) for at least a year (if I ever get there.) I'm cool with knowing I need to replace something (especially something as cheap and easy as that) to join you guys.

Right now I want to make my car more bullet proof while I'm learning. The part that intrigued me was:

"This is the upgrade part prescribed by Porsche for use with 17" or larger wheels."

as I may pick some up for street/DE use though I'm currently using 7"&8" fuchs from a turbo.

Glad to know now though.

Thanks!

My helpful, friendly advice would be to build the car as you want it to be in the end. That way, you'll be getting seat time in the car you're going to race. You can't beat the "intimacy factor."

Also, you can enter the 944-spec class in any Zone 8 PCA AX or TT.

We'd love to have you in the NASA HPDE's anytime. The car doesn't have to be finished. Just come drive it and hang out with us!

If I get it together in time I'm going to try and do the May (21?) HPDE. Of course so many things are going wrong...

After being scared that the head gasket was going, the collective minds on the 944 list convinced me that the oil cooler seals were causing the oil I was seeing in my coolant. So I had the seals replaced last Thursday. Today as I was leaving from work I stick my finger in my coolant expansion tank (it was dark) to find my finger COATED with oil. Got a ride home and will check things out w/ the light of a new day. Well I shouldn't have driven home on half a caster block anyway.

The caster block is a bushing and bushing material must remain non metalic. No other restrictions.

Bottomline is the 968 caster block is legal, so are ones made of hard plastic including delrin. It only gets illegal when these parts are make from metal with no non-metal support. (Like these http://www.paragon-products.com/product_p/re_mc9000.htm)

Also anyball joints are legal. Only exception are the Rennbay "Geomertry correction" ball joints. Reason being the geometry correction part. Right now I would say no not legal. One might be able to argue their legality however.
