Ok all you suckers that did not show up!

Sat. was a awesome day after awhile of not running this weekend at FIR was a nice one. The track was clean and ready for some fun. The day started off with 3 of us, PCA was having a DE on the east track and heard that a few of the 944 guys were over there!!! So Glen Gormley, Vince Vaccaro and myself (Jason) did our practice sessions Glen ofcourse was fast as hell, but his motor let loose (I think) durning the qualifing and ended up not racing on Saturday and Sunday, leaving VInce and Myself to dual it out. I took 1st and VInce 2nd. The times were a little slower do to the fact that NASA opted for the safe route in concrete canyon both days!

Sun. was so nice a storm rolled in over night and blew out before the day started and cooled things down quite nicely to a very comfortable 70 degrees. Today we had Darren, Vince and myself, with Darren Taking first, Jason Second and Vince 3rd. Vince Managed to find the tires next to the track on the last lap .. but did very little damage to his car, no more than if tim was behind your wanting to get around, if he had a short fifth gear.

All was good and nothing to stellar or excitting just good fun racing and thanks tot he honda H4 guys who just sometimes make it a little more fun to run!

Glenn's motor?

Rod bearing or other?

Aren't they resonsible then? Funny isn't it. Glen was front runner then protested, engine broken down, front runner again, protested again, broken down again now DNF? They just ruined one of our best competitors car.

I talked to Glenn yesterday.

Yep it looks like valves in the head were not installed right. Damaged the entire top end and one piston. Appears to be a headbuilder error. This was not builders first 944 head however.

Goods news is replacement parts have been sourced and the shop is working hard to get Glenn back up and running this weekend.

This is why you guys are welcome to go inspect my car whilst it's open now, down at the shop. Any takers? Of course the head had to come off again because it was cracked. I sourced a new head, it will be rebuilt and minimally shaved to Porsche specs. Anyone is weclome to come check out my scored cylinder walls or any other parts they want. Don't ask to do it once the car is back together, I wont be happy to have to rebuild a third time!

Cheers,

P.Dilly.

I wouldn't know? But perhaps you could answer your own question? DOH!!! OK, kidding. Yes I know your joking. I didn't mean it like that though. I just meant, the opportunity is there for the car to be inspected. Anybody is welcome to come take it (a look that is). Or, if you just wondered what the inside of your car looked like, come take a peak. There's nothing to hide in my camp was my point. When I added that 5th gear, it gave me a bunch of speed I didn't have before. Anyone is welcome to come check it out if they have doubts as to where that 2-3 seconds a lap at Cal Speedway came from?

P.D.
