tacovini Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 I missed the event due to extraordinary circumstances...but here's the video!!! Freakin' awesome!!! Quote
Grizlbits Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I tried watching that video on my i phone, my xoom tablet, and my laptop. Vimeo breaks up so bad it is unwatchable. Any chance of getting this on you tube so we can actually watch it? I realize it would take two 10 minutes chunks, but geez, Vimeo blows. Quote
tacovini Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Have you tried watching it on a plain old computer. LOL We'll see what we can do to broadcast it on YouTube, Streetfire, CBS, NBC, etc -=- T Quote
Members Shawn T. Posted December 11, 2011 Members Posted December 11, 2011 Awesome, even a few shots of my car in there. Can't wait for Hallett! Quote
Alien Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) I tried watching that video on my i phone, my xoom tablet, and my laptop. Vimeo breaks up so bad it is unwatchable. Any chance of getting this on you tube so we can actually watch it? I realize it would take two 10 minutes chunks, but geez, Vimeo blows. My appologies. Actually, I initially tried to upload to YouTube first, and ran into the 15 minute limit. Splitting up a video such as this is, well, pretty lame. They do have an option for loading longer videos if your account is in good standing. I looked into it. The catch is good standing; YouTube seems to be a bit more strict on copyright stuff. I will admit to using a few songs without the express written consent of the recording labels. I've already had one previous video of a 'Killing of a Camaro' (stop motion of stripping down a parts car) pulled from YouTube and know of a few more. So, for this purpose, YouTube blows. If someone wants to put it up on Streetfire or Youtube, have at it. If you have a Vimeo account (free), you should be able to download the .mp4 Right click on the "Download this video" and Save Target As. This may be a better way to play if on you laptop etc if it breaks up on Vimeo. The other thing I've done (vimeo, youtube etc) is hit play, then pause and give it a minute or so to get ahead. That way it's not playing faster than it's loading. *edit* On slower computers, it greatly helps to turn off the High def (click the blue HD in the video) and the let it load completely. kbrew8991 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 sounds like a non-great connection or non-great computer, I much prefer Vimeo all things considered. Great video guys! Quote
EFisher12 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 You gotta love these Texas boys ... what a bitchin video. E Fisher #12 AIX Quote
RWinchester199 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Attention Todd, from the looks of the video Ive come to a few conclusions. 1. Texas racing is full contact and road/off road racing and I like it 2. Your stack of contact forms must be HUGE. 3. Every standing start had contact or a stalled car so when you guys claim they pull them off just fine I now assume you were just kidding. Cool video. It would be cool to have that done for the nationals. Quote
Alien Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks for the compliments, tho there's always that one guy... 1. Texas racing is full contact and road/off road racing and I like it Appologies if that is your impression. I know from watching many many hours of racing, and many professional made year in review videos (F1, BTCC, Aussie V8, WRC), the exciting ones and the ones that are talked about and remembered not only show the highlights, but also the lowlights. Considering our AI/CMC drivers did a total of 4,448 combined laps this year, and myself reviewing many many hours of footage seeking out these contacts, I figure it'd make for a boring video to show the true proportion of contact. 3. Every standing start had contact or a stalled car so when you guys claim they pull them off just fine I now assume you were just kidding. All 8 standing starts this year had contact? I did not know that. IIRC, the one at Hallett was the only one I recall. Are you including the one from 2006 caused by some silly ST driver? I'm sure you're aware that there was also some contact on a rolling start, T1, T4, T10, and straightaways even. Not sure what your point is. Ban standing starts? Ban passing? Ban corners? Ban rain races? Quote

Ban rain races? Whoa slow down a sec. I specifically mentioned Todd for a reason. I'm giving him a hard time. As he will tell you its all in good fun and is not a shot at anyone or any region.... It's just me having fun with Todd simple as that. I'm fine with whatever kind of start they choose to have. Never had contact other than at nationals before the green. The video was cool and if you read the first time you quoted me it says "I like it" not sure why that bothered anyone. Maybe you misread. Either way it was attention Todd and was not intended to upset you in any way.... Quote
Alien Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Not upset, only bothered in that I thought someone was using this video to try further their own personal agenda. Apparently that is not the case. Thanks for clarifying, it's all good now. Please understand that my initial reply was simply intended to correct a couple of fallacies in your post. To see where I'm coming from, my definition of full contact is leaning on and bumping to gain position. That is most certainly not the case here in Texas. Not a single contact was intentional. Maybe I did misread "and I like it" as you typed it immediately following the phase "Texas racing is full contact and road/off road racing". I took it that you are all for full contact racing at this level and hence me intentionally quoting it in my rebuttal. If you are now saying that it meant that you liked the video, then maybe it was you that simply mistyped what you intended to say. Either way, now that I'm "in" on your little joke between yourself and Todd, we're both on the same page and I'm good with it. That said, I'd hate to give a newbie, or someone looking to join, the impression that NASA or AI or CMC encourages full contact racing. I don't want someone to read your comments, think you are speaking the truth that it's a demolition derby out there, and think that it is acceptable. Also, a tip for next time when you want to get Todd and only Todds attention; there's always this little gem. That way those who arn't in on the "good fun" won't perceive it that you might be taking a shot at anyone or any region. Keep it shiney side up! Quote
rleng1 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Racing in the Texas region, and I'm sure like in other regions, is close and exciting. You learn other drivers and know their habits (on and off the track, ). Racing this close is what it is about. Hallet is the best, and I cannot wait until I get the chance to compete at Nationals.
