Red Tornado Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Was going to do a few events with them this year and reading rules it looks it but figured someone must know Quote
Cheyne Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 No they are not legal. The 302s is not legal due to seam welding allowed in GA. The 302r is also not legal. You have to start with a street Boss or convert a 5.0L GT to the Boss specs. The car has to start with a legal VIN, but for the GT 5.0L you can disregard the engine portion and you would have to convert the GT completely to the Boss spec. Cheyne Quote
sundialracing Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 302S are not seam welded... Chris, Big issue is that you have to have a 17 digit VIN, you and I are good there. Here is the short list of what we would have to do to be T1 legal: 1) Change coilovers in the rear to stock spring location. 2) Remove lexan( IIRC you have stock glass) 3) Remove rear wing 4) Hope nobody notices your 302S chassis and engine wiring. 5) Change brakes to GT500 type Brembo's and remove Ford Racing booster, ABS module. 6) Looks like 6060 trans is legal based on ratios listed in GCR. 7) Change hood to stock 8 ) Per SCCA rules you can't have seat sliders.... When I think of more I will post..... Quote
Cheyne Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Sorry it was the FR500's that are not legal based on seam welding. The rear springs are coil over for the T1 and T2 Mustangs. We have to use the FR500 coil over springs. They are the M-5300-A (M-5310-A Front, M-5560-A Rear). You would have to have a legal VIN and a stock Boss 302 ECU body. You can run the Tiger Racing hood. You can also use the Brembo Pro kit. Lexan wouldn't be legal. You might have to make sure the cage is legal also. When Rehegan put my cage in they had to add a dash bar. Also the FIA cage might not be legal due to tubing size. If you want I can send you the Club Racing T1 Boss 302 VTS. It is different from the Pro VTS. The cars will be pretty close to the WC GTS cars minus the wing and bigger wheels and tires. Cheyne Quote
Red Tornado Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Oh well may just be easier to run STO with full slicks and change nothing as don't feel like changing much. Quote
Cheyne Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Oh well may just be easier to run STO with full slicks and change nothing as don't feel like changing much. Unfortunately you would still need to run DOT tires in STO, but yes you it would be easier to run STO with only the tires to change. 9.3.45. TIRES Tires shall be 124 (“U”) mph rated or better unless otherwise specified or controlled. In the Improved Touring, Super Touring, American Sedan, Showroom Stock, Spec Miata and Touring categories, only DOT approved tires are permitted. Racing, recapped, or re-grooved tires are not allowed. Tire size is unrestricted unless otherwise stated. The only modifications allowed to tires are having treads “shaved” or “trued.” Quote
Red Tornado Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 That's pretty easy to switch to as I can run in ST2 trim and it's the same as STO. granted won't be competitive at all but can get some track time in at those events. Quote
