philstireservice Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 DOT or no? A slick is NON DOT Quote
philstireservice Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Any up-dates on this?? Tires should be available by the end of April. They will be less expensive than a equivalent sized Hoosier. They are suppose to last longer also and be faster. Quote
Zach H. Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Wow sounds like this would be a game changer....testing will prove important if the extra weight is worth it Quote
maxxfish Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Any idea if they'll have a contingency program? Quote
Members Michael G. Posted March 21, 2012 Members Posted March 21, 2012 Toyo announced new contingency program for 2012, but I don't think GTS is listed in the qualified classes. I think it applies mostly to classes signed for running Toyos as spec tires. May be we can approach them on including GTS? Michael G. NE GTS Dir. Quote
ngoldrich Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Any compound information available? I have to run a soft front and a medium rear. I have run Michelin slicks for the last few years with good results however Michelin is no longer making soft compound tires just endurance compounds which are too hard. Hoosier also does not make a soft enough front as I tried theirs. I run a spool so unless I run a soft front the car has tremendous understeer. Thanks Quote

Think more along the lines of endurance. The test results so far have been very good. Faster than Hoosiers and last longer. These should become available in May. Quote
sperkins Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 They are suppose to last longer also and be faster. Don't they all say that before they're released? Quote
cstreit911 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Phil, Faster than Hoosier R6's, or the new radial slick? Quote

Thanks You should look at the new BFG R1S if you've liked the Michelins. Its a DOT but has awesome grip, is soft, affordable, and will actually last... They also offer an awesome contingency program for GTS. Google Jackson Motorsports Group for more info - they are the main distributor for BFG and Michelin race tires in the US. Ed Quote
