FS: '92 Thunderbird SC

Well I have decided that it is time to part ways with my 1992 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe race car. I purchased this car back in April of 2006 from the original owner as a rolling chassis from there I have transformed the car into what it is today. The chassis has 63k miles on it, it has never been wrecked, 100% clean rust free and I have a clean Ohio title for this car that is in my name. As of right now the car is not street legal because it is a pure race car however all it would take to make it street legal again would be a headlight and turn signal harness. The list of modifications are extensive so I may forget something. First off this car is built entirely around the NASA American Iron rules set. This is the perfect beginner entry level car or even a veteran would enjoy driving it as well. It could also be run in NASA Time Trials or with a few changes be run in SCCA A Sedan. The car is completely gutted and shed of all excess weight possible. Race weight without driver is right about 3000lbs which is awesome for the size of this car. There is a full roll cage inside that runs threw the firewall and is tied into the front shock towers. Inside there is a NASCAR style dash that the gauges are mounted to along with a Butler Built full containment racing seat for the driver. I also have a passenger seat installed so you can take riders along. Seat belts are current, I just bought brand new GForce cam lock 5pt harnesses this past spring; they have been used only once. Under the hood is a 5.0L V8 bored .30 over, balanced and blue printed stock bottom end but with the addition of speedpro pistons. Trick Flow twisted wedge heads, X303 cam, Comp Cams chrome molly pushrods, double roller timing chain, TFS 1.6 rockers, 7qt oil pan, Edlebrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Mighty Demon 650cfm carb, Mac long tube headers, Dr Gas Boom tubes, Griffin aluminum radiator, ARP hardware throughout, MSD distributor with 6AL box and Blaster3 coil, and a Fluidyne balancer. The engine has approximately 3-4k miles on it since it was built. Unfortunately I do not get to drive it often so the miles stay low on the engine. Drivetrain consists of the stock SC transmission matched with a Centerforce dual friction clutch, aluminum one-piece driveshaft, and out back inside an aluminum 8.8 IRS pumpkin are 373 gears. The suspension/steering has Koni shocks at all four corners, polly bushings throughout, front ADDCO 1 3/8 sway bar, rear ADDCO 1 1/4 sway bar, and Flaming River quick ratio manual rack. Also rear aluminum lower controlling arms. For brakes up front are 13" rotors with '00 Cobra R 4 piston Brembo calipers and at the rear are cobra rear rotors with SC caliper relocation brackets. I installed metal braided flex brake lines at all four corners. The body is pretty much stock appearing. I installed a home made NASCAR style rear deck lid spoiler and lexan front windshield. The car is rolling on 17x10 CCW classic 3 piece racing wheels wrapped in Continental full slick endurance racing tires with around 70-80% life left in them. Also a fiberglass cobra r hood. I tried keeping the car as simple and user friendly as possible. Using a Painless race car harness made wiring the car easy. A brand new light weight Braille battery starts the car every time.

The car is EXTREMELY fun to drive and throw through the corners. It accelerates good, stops on a dime, and has excellent grip with little to no body roll. I do love the way the quick ratio manual rack feels, it is super easy to turn and has the perfect amount of road feedback. I started this car out autocrossing which it won a Ohio Valley Region SCCA solo II championship. Later I started taking it to track day events with NASA.

I have invested into this car about $20k and countless hours of time and development. I am asking $7,000 OBO for my car which I feel it is worth every penny of that however I am a motivated seller. I prefer cash sales but I would consider a straight up trade or trade plus some cash. Possible trades would be powerstroke Ford 4x4 trucks, shifter kart, or V8 stick shift mustangs, GTO, CTSV or just let me know what you have and we will talk. No junk please, sorry. Here is a video of the car in action! Sorry for the poor picture quality, they were taken with my cell camera. The video is from a NASA HPDE event at Putnum Park earlier this year.

Wow......

That's not gonna last nearly as long as I need it to. I'd say GLWS, but you won't need it.
