GRM Scott Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hello to all! Some of you I know, and some I don't, hopefully I'll be getting to know many more of you personally. I'm the custodian of our 2002 Civic Si project car, which we're now building for road racing competition, with a primary goal of running Honda-Challenge. Is anyone else running this chassis in HC? Unless I'm a complete fool, I don't see the car classed in the current rulebook; my guess would be H3 since it'll have a similar power-to-weight as the Prelude Si non-VTEC. You can see the current state of the car on the project car page at http://grmotorsports.com/news/category/project-cars/02-civic-si/. If anyone is running one of these, any tips or tricks for a newbie coming to the sport in this car? I'll be getting my license in the car if all goes according to plan. Quote
UltimateTSI Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I don't think anyone has ran that chassis in HC yet. nice car. good luck. Quote
civicrr Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 , I don't see the car classed in the current rulebook; my guess would be H3 since it'll have a similar power-to-weight as the Prelude Si non-VTEC. best bet is to request a car classification to the local (most) regional director...... Quote
GRM Scott Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks, will do, I guess we'll be braving some uncharted territory. Looking forward to running with H-C; my first real story for the magazine was on Lyonel Kent's old Civic, so there's a special place in my heart Quote
slammed_93_hatch Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 looks like really nice progress. IIRC there was some one in SoCal who was useing that chassi, but i think for H1. this was at the beging of last year though. Im pretty sure he was in some way associated with AEM but i haven't heard any from him or about the car in a long time. other then that, good luck getting it to turn, most people who run them have a hell of a time getting it to turn. THey have to run some very very stiff rear suspension, and have a really hard time getting negative camber. again this is just my observation from teams like RTR and the BTCC. I also remeber reading about how the BTCC guys were all switching over to the RSX because with there rules and regulations the civic SI has a terminal speed of about 120mph, and there compition has a higher terminal speed. You probably already know about all this but i thought i'd add in what i have read. Quote
SPiFF Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Classed in H3, but no min weight has been determined yet. Will you be running in SEHC then? Quote
GRM Scott Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 We'll be running wherever we can get the car out, obviously NASA-FL and SEHC are the closest to our home base, but it's not unusual for us to travel to other parts of the country with racecars in tow. We could show up anywhere! Thanks for the classic clarification SPiFF Quote
H4CRXSi Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 If you get the car done in time, you might consider making the tow up to BeaveRun on Labor Day weekend to race w/ ECHC & MWHC. Should be a good weekend, with a HC only run group and standing starts. Hope to see you at the track! Sam Quote
