NoTheOtherSparky Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I have an AI car that was built in the early 2000s. The wing is a little bit below the roofline, which seems like it would reduce its effectiveness. I see newer cars that have a somewhat taller wing. The current rules permit 7.4.10 Spoilers, wings and air dams must be fixed for competition. Front splitters, air dams or dive planes shall not extend frontward or sideways more than 5” beyond the outline of the nose of the car as viewed from above. Front wings and roof wings are not allowed. Rear wings or rear spoilers installed on AI cars must not extend rearward more than 1.5 inches beyond the outline of he rear bumper and may not have an airfoil width not to include endplates or bolts greater than 72 inches So unless I'm missing some other restriction elsewhere in the rules, there's no height restriction on the wing? UBR Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 You read them correctly. No height restriction. The aero engineers that designed the rear wing on our 75 car said there is a limit to how much height benefits vs hurting aero, but the rules don't define a height. j Quote
