Ken, I'll let Jason answer his own question, but we have lots of experience with this track in our class. Our 944's run it in any of several clubs. Want me to ship you a video of us racing at Willow?

Hey Tim,

That'll be great if I can get a video of you guys running on this track.

Thanks!

OK.

Joe Paluch has great video of the same races from his car. We mixed it up real good a couple times at Willow!

I think turb 9 was closer to 110 this past weekend? Maybe I was dreaming? Well, maybe that's at track out when you can actually look down and take you eyes off the road for a sec?

I know a coupel years ago I used 4th in Turn 9 to gain some oph for the straight.

Back then lap times were just under 1:40. Now with faster times I and the quoted speeds seems like turn 9 might be in 5th.

I would assume either a light touch of the brakes and turn in or possible just a lift and turn for 9?

Would I be correct?

My last time I figured I could take 9 faster, but given the speed of it all and odd reference points it takes some brass ones to get there. For me being that I have only driven the track in 12 sessions (3 sessions on 4 days each) mine had not yet grown too large.

With a rather annoying push, I was using 4th. I had planned on trying it in 5th, to see what the result would be? But, spent the entire time trying to dial out the pushy push push so, never got to try anything else out.

Maybe next time?

Tricky Situation, Joe.... I think 9 can be taken in 5th, but the rpms are low enough that you really can't really throttle steer... so you are committed and if you get it wrong.........ouch!

That's a bummer, but we may pick up Rickard #77, Steele #86, and Yousko #57. We'll see.

Hett, Please come out this summer. You'll dig Willow.

Ok, guys. These attendance numbers are looking good. Please tell the group if you need anything at all. ANYTHING. From tires and wheels to brake pads to sharing a hotel room to save costs. Please try to get other 944 drivers to come, too!

I'm trying to get some press coverage of this 944 gathering. It could be the one that puts this class over the top!

We've been working towards 944 gatherings of this size for a couple years now. This could be the biggest yet...........

Tim,

Try to contact Sam Rossi about writing an article for Excellence about the 944 group. He didn't write the article about the Australia group but he is very familiar with the Porsche crowd in SoCal and a frequent contributor to the magazine.

Also, rephrase your comment that you have been trying to get a group this size for two years. Look how big it is in such a short period, only two years. Just a suggestion.

Go get 'em.

Glen

Thanks for the suggestion. More press coverage will help this class grow everywhere. Looks like we're getting some crossover SCCA drivers coming out from the Phoenix Group.

If you or any other drivers have an "in" somewhere in the press world, please feel free to make use of it. I've even gone so far as to have the Aussies post pics of us on their website.

My next marketing goal is an article in PANORAMA.

Dalrymple for video/TV?

Jason Wilberding for L.A. Latin radio?

Write the articles yourselves?

We're on the PCA, POC, NASA forums.

Pelican and Rennlist could be posted to more heavily? Lots of 944 people there.

Let's build it!

There might be another Norcal 944 heading down with me to do HPDE.

There are a couple of Norcal 944-spec cars being built out in various stages of development. They won't be ready for Willow Springs but one will be ready to race (both car & driver) for Infineon/Sears Point in Aug.

I just paid so I'm in. Somebody save a spot for my truck and trailer and I'll be there Sat morning. I'm off to Europe now so I'll be out of touch for a week.

Timothy,

not sure how 100% true this is, but my understanding is that Dement may not be there at NASA for this event?

The biggest field of 944's that I know of was 16 at AMP in Oct-Nov? of 2003. 8 of the cars qualified on the same second.

If we can get 20 944's racing, I'll crap my pants.......

Tell you what..........help us market this event. If you know a 944 driver who is not on the entry list in the first post of this topic, call them personally. No emails. Call them and tell them they don't want to miss this event. We can make it huge!

Honestly, I haven't asked Dwain myself. He goes to almost every NASA event with Bernheim so I assumed he would make this one too. Find out for us?

In other related news..........

My red car will not be stuck at home in the garage for this event. It just sold to a licensed racer and he'll be there with us at Willow on the 9th and 10th. I can't believe it, but it looks like over 20 944's will be there.

I'll alert the media..............
